NASA Astronauts and their ufo sighting experiences and thoughts about et's.

There have been a number of discussions over the years about what NASA Astronauts may have or may not have seen over the years that have been posted here on ATS, but the fact remains, many have seen things they could not explain, some have been seen on radar its reported, and many have thoughts about the possibility of alien life, and speculation that we have been are continue to be visited and more...

I thought this was still an interesting read though.

Some might think the only people who believe in aliens are "forum-dwelling internet conspiracy theorists," but several NASA astronauts believe extraterrestrials exist and have been in touch with humanity for a long period, reports said. Data cruncher and blogger Sam Monfort in his blog on Feb. 21 said the number of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) sightings is currently at an all-time high. He wrote that one of the first recorded UFO sightings was in Portland in 1905, where a "buzzing sphere-shaped UFO descended from the clouds."

Furthermore, there have been several astronauts such as Edgar Mitchell, Cady Coleman, Edwin Buzz Aldrin and Dr Brian O’Leary who have claimed to have seen UFOs. Aldrin, one of the first people to walk on the Moon, had shared his experience on board the Apollo 11, when he and fellow astronauts saw something flying alongside their spacecraft. Initially, they thought it was the final stage of a detached rocket, until mission control confirmed it was 6000 miles away from them.

Both Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin have mentioned before the ufo sightings they saw while walking on the moon. Armstrong is said to believe that there is an alien base on the moon at that they were warned to stay off the moon.

Astronaut Edgar Mitchell believes that aliens exist and have been watching and visiting for some time.

He was convinced after the journey to the Moon that "aliens have been observing us and have been here for some time." Mitchell once even claimed that "peace-loving" aliens had visited Earth to save humanity from nuclear war, and indicated the Vatican knew about the existence of extraterrestrials. Mitchell, who had been outspoken about his belief in aliens, told Mirror Online that top-ranking military sources had spotted UFOs during weapons tests. He also said that strange crafts flying over missile bases at the White Sands facility have been spotted by military insiders. The facility is a government-owned rocket engine test site where the world's first ever nuclear bomb was detonated in 1945.

In 1963 Astronaut Gordon Cooper was in space and saw a greenish glowing object come whizzing by him.

n 1963, when he shot into space in a Mercury capsule for a 22-orbit journey around the world, Cooper told the tracking station he could see a glowing, greenish object appearing in front of him and approaching his capsule. The UFO was reportedly "real and solid," because even the tracking radar had picked it up, according to syti.net. According to a taped interview by author, J.L. Ferrando, Cooper revealed how he felt he was living with a secret, which was imposed on all specialists in astronautics. "I can now reveal that every day, in the USA, our radar instruments capture objects of form and composition unknown to us. And there are thousands of witness reports and a quantity of documents to prove this, but nobody wants to make them public," he said. He added: "Because authority is afraid that people may think of God knows what kind of horrible invaders. So the password still is: We have to avoid panic by all means."

And Astronaut Brian O'Leary goes so far as to say in his opinion, we have been contacted by aliens.

"There is abundant evidence that we are being contacted. Civilizations have been monitoring us for a very long time and that their appearance is bizarre from any type of traditional materialistic western point of view.”

He also believes crop circles are a very real phenomenon.

I just read this all on yahoo yesterday, and almost made a thread. I know its been covered here, but its still very interesting. Also worth the occasional revisit! I believe them 110%. There are and have been aliens around us for a very long time IMO.

For some reason people want to give a lot more credit to astronauts, armed services personnel, ex-spooks, etc.. To me they are as likely to be laying out intentional misinformation as they are to be telling the truth.

Having said that, some of the information you've provided is quite compelling. Astronaut Story Musgrave has some interesting stories to tell as well. Thanks for the post.

This subject was on the most recent show on Destination America channel called "UFO's Uncovering the Truth", and it was one of the best in the series of shows they have had. There were quite a few Astronaut sightings I had not been aware of, including the one in 1963 that Gordon Cooper saw which was greenish, glowing and buzzed by his capsule.
I just checked Destination Americas website again for any new video postings of this episode, as they have not posted it yet for some reason, and it's been awhile since it aired.

That's it. Still waiting for episode 6 Astronauts and Pilot sightings video to be posted. The best shows in this series have been 2, 5, and 6, the Astronaut sightings. The undersea ufo show had some actual high quality images of some ufos seen hovering over the water that were fascinating, also some encounters with the US military going way back to the 1960's that I had never heard of before.

The Gordon Cooper/Mercury UFO is a garbled version of of the flashing beacon experiment that was an important part of the flight. At 03:25 GET Cooper flipped a switch and ejected a six-inch spherical tracking target equipped with a xenon strobe. The purpose of the experiment was to test his ability to see the target under various lighting conditions.

Buzz Aldrin has NEVER stated that he saw anything unexplained in space. The object "tracking" Apollo 11 was one of the SLA panels.

The rumor that Neil Armstrong saw aliens on the Moon is pure poppycock.

Ed Mitchell likewise never made the claim. It's true that he believed in ET visitation but on the basis of hearsay.

also misrepresents the truth. Yes, they initially thought it was the 'final stage of a detached rocket', but the implication that they changed their minds is false. Nothing 'flew alongside' the spacecraft.

Jim Oberg has written quite a bit on the most popularized historical astronaut UFO sightings, and has tried to set the record straight often by getting quotes from the astronauts. It doesn't appear that you have researched that valuable source of information from a former NASA insider, and you are instead reading this garbage full of lies. You're really embarrassing yourself if you believe all this crap. The one thing that's true is about Ed Mitchell believing in ET visitation but even that isn't accurately portrayed since he's accused of seeing a UFO by your source, which he never did.

Find some more accurate sources for goodness sake.

The Cooper stories are just sad, like his posthumous embarrassment being exploited in the recent "Cooper's Treasure" travesty. Honor the guy for his performance at his peak, and show charity by leaving his declining years in the shadows.

I wonder if we even went to the moon considering all the technical difficulties involved. Secondly if we did, why go for 3 years straight and then quit? Third why don't some of earth's high powered telescopes focus on the moon, on mars, on venus, etc so we can see exactly what is going on each of those places? Even if its just barren rocks/sand with no atmosphere it should still be interesting to get close up views. But if something sinister was going on like moon bases and spacecraft parked on the surface, would they show us?

The astronauts would never admit anything officially since they have signed non-disclosure agreements with the government, but off the record is a different beast.
