I'm old enough to remember the very tail end of the Red Scare here in America. In my youth I lived through the billion dollar War on Drugs boondoggle. And the Satanic Panic. And the Weapons of Mass Destruction Fabrication. And the War on Terror Debaucle.

Come at me with one more "problem" for me to line your pockets so you can "fix," and I won't do it but I'll certainly entertain fantasies of beating you with a shovel.

You forgot the ozone scare, the coming ice age, peak oil, the population bomb, the coming water wars, reef madness, acid rain, DDT and other pesticides.!

Acid rain and ddt were actual issues, but certainly not on the doom port level they were portrayed.

TOTALLY agree with the OP. I don't need the lefts new red scare, or the rights renewal of the drug war crusade. However if the actual boogeyman shows up, I will reconsider. I hear he's scary as hell.

All the things we have been doing and eating for a million years are now all "deadly" and responsible for all death. We would all be immortal, if we would just think and act exactly as we are told. (ok, maybe not forever, but without pleasure and individuality, it would sure seem like it).

Lol I remember being younger (like 10) hearing about killer bees on the news in the 90s...pre internet I was actually concerned about it...shows the power of the media.

I remember time magazine in the early 80s say earth might be swallowed up by a black hole. I was really young and it scared me to tears, them my teacher told us about the coming ice age!! No wonder I have panic disorder today!!

I remember the 50's was much more positive,didn't have 15 million media stations,did more things outdoors things were family orientated,people kept to themselves as far as religious beliefs except at church,unwed mothers was a taboo thing,so was living together while not married,sad to say in the last 60 years I have seen this do a 360
