Fox Business - Trump financial disclosures show Mar-a-Lago business boom

Mar-a-Lago, where Trump played host to several foreign dignitaries during his seven weekends there this winter, has improved its finances. Trump listed the resort's income as about $37 million, up from about $30 million it had taken in prior to his 2016 financial report.

And do you know what the profits reported in the 2015 report were? $16 million. One of the first orders of business was to double the initiation fee to $200k. After all, guests should to pay for the privilege of having access to getting their pictures taken with the guy who holds the nuclear football, amirite?

Of course the liar hasn't released his taxes, nor will he release enough details about his businesses for anything approaching a comprehensive survey and so it's impossible to quantify but by all indications from what is available, the presidency has been quite profitable thus far.

You obviously don't know what the department of education does.

Also, my kids will likely be trust fund kids (as much as I try to prevent it, my wife...), so they won't be cleaning your kids house, sorry.

Not after my kid and his buddies raid your trust. Better teach them "wax on, was off" starting now. My son likes a shiny car.

This is what is wrong.

So even though others have done it in the past, it's more amazing when Trump does it now because everyone's standards are lower now???

Well hell, let's keep lowering those standards until we're all hero's just because we don't stand around sh*tting ourselves and laughing about it.

If we get it low enough maybe we can all be the best President ever.

The irony of this is hilarious. The entire purpose of the left is to lower standards, economically and socially.

Do you have a link to the 2015 report? Your link doesn't list profit. if he really made 16 million profit off 30 million in revenues, he'd be a god.

I hope she does away with it.

Fine, then the kids will have even less of a chance for an education, and will be begging at your door by daylight and stealing your car come dark.

Good thinking.

My son is in a private boarding school that costs $35k a year. Very elite. Good buddies of his are from multiple counties, and all of their parents are well off.

It is called networking, and it has been going on for a long time. How are the public school kids going to compete?

They won't, if you have your way.

I came up through public schools, and am now well off. But no more, if we keep dumbing down and scorning education. Well, hope you do well in your future dream world of uneducated kids. Maybe your offspring can get a job in the future cleaning my son's house, or cutting his grass.

I don't believe you.
I'm more likely to believe that you live in squalor and have gravy stains on the t-shirt you have been wearing for days.

Sure it is. That's why Priority 1 for everyone on the Left (which is a totally arbitrary and meaningless label btw) is always "To lower the standards everywhere."

Funny how I forgot about such an obvious and extremely unpopular idea like that when it's being promised by the left all the time, huh.

I mean, you would think that something so obviously insane like that would be something I'd totally remember with everyone on the left constantly saying that it's their plan.

Gee, I must either be crazy or that just isn't true at all. I wonder which one it is.....

Being that he doesn't understand a simple AB trust and that he doesn't know what the department of education does, you're likely correct. But he may just be a middle class schmo that is mad at the world.

and I had to laugh at the multiple counties part.

Sure they don't call it that, but it is what happens with just about every policy of the left. Name a policy that doesn't end with this result?

Haven't read all but just saying, education is a states right and they could get rid of the dept of education as far as I am concerned. My child moved to an area where ed states were high (tho I don't agree with some testing methods). The public can put the pressure on education. Not federal money.

Maybe they do it so the people on the Right feel like they're actually accomplishing something.

This is exactly right. Right now the Dept of education is fairly small and really only deals with a few small aspects of public education. So it's prime time to get rid of it.

As if Hillary wouldn't have used the presidency to benefit the Clinton Foundation, that's probably the sole reason she wanted it. You can bet she'd also keep her presidential salary.

Hopefully Devos can use the money to stop the sexual grooming of our children and the racism and get things back the actually educating our children with science and facts versus the nonsensical science of feelings that is being taught today.

$100k, while a lot of money to you and me and everyone else here at ATS is less than the budget of a single school. It's the cost of sending his son Barron to a private schol for 2 years.

It's also approximately one year's salary for three school teachers.

He can also deduct it from his taxes.

Sounds great on paper. Looks like a noble gesture.

It might do something for ONE small school, but that's it. Or it gets lost in the real budget. If he wanted to do something for kids, working with both sides of the aisle to fund programs, raise teacher salaries, fix infrastructure would go a heck of a lot farther.

Doesn't matter what Trump does. You will always find a way to be outraged. Am I right?

People can't seem let go of their hatred and completely miss the point by trying to put a value (or lack thereof) on the 100k.

The bitterness is so strong.. smh

Exactly. Trump gave 100% of what we were supposed to pay him, to the dept of education. He doesn't have to do that.
