Democrats are in the pocket of the insurance lobby. See my first post. Not a single Democrat voted for single payer.

Plus, single payer is a pipe dream. It will not work.

The same thing was said about cars going over 50mph, man walking on the moon and a Black President. Yet here we are today having made all those things possible and more.

If everyone thought the same as you we'd still be living in caves and hitting each other with sticks and stones claiming man can't create fire.

So the entire population has to get on the same bandwagon. This is the depth of understanding the thing by these morons.

Not true. It almost past in Cali. until one Democrat, who ran on a platform of single payer, sold out and shelved it. But other Democrats did vote for it.

A man has 3 billion DNA letters. Race doesn't exist. So Obama has darker skin hue than the other presidents. Tiny curly hair. So what? It means nothing to me or anyone else. A man is judged by his actions, not by his looks.

Not at the federal level they won't vote for single payer.

I agree that it passing on the federal level is a slim to none chance. For the very same reason it wouldn't pass here in Cali. Because politicians are in somebodies pocket already.

That doesn't mean it can't work or is not possible. It just means at the end of the day, corruption and corp. dollars are what makes law here in America, that's all.

Your other response was meaningless so I ignored it.

In 2010, the democrats almost passed Medicare for all( which is essentially single-payer) but for the exception of the insurance industry flunky Lieberman and the senator from Arkansas( I forget his name) they would have passed it.

Where do you think we would be if that had indeed passed?

He says America is the only country that does not guarantee healthcare for every person, leaving 28 million uninsured. Not true. There are plenty of countries that doesn't guarantee this. Also, single payer does not guarantee good quality service. See Russia, China, India. Typically, single payer in other countries only offer the most basic coverage to everyone, the most basic. They don't cover things like surgeries or cancer treatment. Single payer also have low efficiency resulting in long wait times, such as in Canada, and high bureaucracy. Also, the insurance lobby is strong in America, which resulted in the failure of Clinton's healthcare reform and the enactment of the ACA and the failure of GOP's attempt at repealing some or all of the ACA, so single payer will never be able to get through Congress.

“We are the only major country on earth, the only one, not to guarantee healthcare to all people,” he said. “The result is 28 million people who are uninsured, millions of people who are paying deductibles and copayments that are far too high.”

In a political move, Republican Senator Steve Daines had tried to force Senate Democrats to vote for-or-against single payer last week during the most recent round of health care votes. But Democrats rejected the efforts, with none voting for it and most voting “present.” Four Democrats voted no: North Dakota’s Heidi Heitkamp, West Virginia’s Joe Manchin, Indiana’s Joe Donnelly and Montana’s Jon Tester. Liberal-leaning Maine Independent Angus King also voted no.

www.newsweek.com...

Did he say every country, or "every developed country?" Because it's pretty much true that we are the only major developed country without some kind of universal health care.

And guess what, we have some of the worst public health standards amongst the same countries...

We all saw this old goat coming from miles away. Single payer in America would be such a failure, but it just may happen. Congress will say that the system is so broken that they just cannot fix it, and when Obamacare fails, as it must, they will say that single payer is the only solution. At that point, a majority will agree, and, well... we will get what is coming to us. We always do, and it is never good.

The current system is utterly broken though...

True. America is the only country where insurance companies go to the federal government and get billions of free money every once in a while. It's the most subsidized industry in the world.

Gotta wonder why Sanders (especially Sanders) and Democrats don't get into details?

Details like maybe "Single Payer" gets rid of Medicaid and Employer insurance.

They should be pushing that maybe employees get raises to offset the higher payroll tax rates necessary.

Other details like just what people would need "to buy" in the private markets.

They should be pushing for a "reset" and let the insurance companies get paid to administrate most of the program similar to how they already partly do with Medicaid and Medicare.

Something is fishy with the approach.

Something dirty and evil no doubt.

Your first two examples follow the laws of physics.

Your third example shows that our society is not systematically racist.

Single Payer cannot exist as per the laws of math and economics. It is unsustainable. Even the California progressives realized it would cost 2X more than their entire state's revenue.

www.cnbc.com...

Single Payer is not economically feasible, it would destroy the economy if it were pursued. I'm not sure how to put it to you folks any more clearly than that.

Government has already broken the health care system. Why, oh why, do you think it can repair it? Are you familiar with the definition of insanity?

And if you are going to say it works in other nations, why don't you move there first and experience it first-hand before trying to say it would be great for the USA?
