Could be rusted out to where the end came off.

Unless it was really worked on, these bb guns had to use the length of the barrel to hold the bb's....so if it was done on purpose it would had to have had the caps welded back on after the chop job.

It's ok. I checked both sides and nothing on the stock.

Could also be worn down from years in the pond. It appears to be a red Ryder from the pics and comparisons.

I'll see if I get more info from member's posts before I start cleaning this baby. I don't want to affect the value if it is old.

The Red Ryder BB gun appears to have a plastic cocking lever.
If it is plastic, the airgun is post 1980's vintage.

It looks like a truncated Buck model 105.

A new one costs 30.00$

Looks like an early 60's model to me. They were short. It had a screw-in magazine/barrel that had a knurled end on it. You had to remove it to load in about 20 or so BB's in a spring feeder, then re-insert the assembly in the end of the barrel and tighten it down.

Insert looked like this:

What intrigues me more is why they cut the gun barrel, you can see there is no front aiming.

Nice find! The Daisy Museum is located just up the road from me in Rogers Arkansas. You might give them a call as they could probably give you more info on it.
My hubby bought me a new Daisy a few months ago.Have been wanting one for years. Had several as a kid. Was heartbreaking to pull it out of the box and see "made in China" stamped on it. They are building new facilities though. Moving production back to here.

There it is. I couldn't find a picture of it. I knew the one in the OP was the same one I had as a kid but I couldn't find the model. Thanks.

Brings back memories! My parents bought me mine around 87 or 88 or so. The only thing is I don't remember that buck on the stock but it might have been there and I just don't remember it. I remember taking real good care of it, I oiled it down every day.

I just moved nearby a river, this could be something fun to try.

Magnet fishing can be fun.

For years i had 2 forklift magnets i hung from the back of my truck and would drive the dirt sholders of the hiways and dirt roads in the desert.
