‘Alien’ toddler skeleton with deformed skull unearthed in Crimea

The burial place of a 1.5-year-old boy with a deformed elongated skull was unearthed by archaeologists in Crimea. The scientists immediately dubbed the finding an ‘alien’ due to the unusual structure of the skull.

The report goes on to say:

The remains were found near the village of Yakovenkovo in the eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula, says the Archaeology Fund, a group that organizes digs across Central Russia, Crimea and Northern Africa. The grave of boy, which dates back to the second century, was a key finding of the recent expedition, according to anthropologists. The boy had an artificially lengthened skull, which is clearly seen in the pictures shared by the group. The severe deformations of the skull immediately earned the site the name "alien's grave," the Archaeology Fund said. Artificial cranial deformation, a form of body alteration, was practiced among many ancient cultures. It was typically carried out on infants, whose skulls were more flexible. However, some adherents of ‘ancient astronauts’ theories claim that the owners of such lengthened skulls may be human-extraterrestrial hybrids. The archaeologists' group said that such skull deformations were typical for Sarmatians, who once inhabited modern-day Crimea. It is theorized that they may have used it to identify members of certain groups or bearers of a certain social status

The separation of the fontanelles shows the child was young.

The eye sockets being large with respect to skull size are another evidence that it is a young child. The eye develops very early in life and does no really grow much, which would lead to constant changes of focal length and vision difficulties.

Thanks. Yes, it is quite small. There are a few other photo's available if you google it. There is also one with a grown man next to it for size comparison. I was unable to download them sorry.

Originally, head flattening was instituted to “distinguish certain groups of people from others and to indicate the social status of individuals.” In Europe the practice was most popular with tribes that emigrated from the Caucasus region of Central Asia, like the Huns, Sarmatians, Avars, and the Alans. Indeed, that region is where the remains of the earliest suspected practitioners of artificial cranial deformation were discovered.

"Cultural status" possibly being those thought close to their Gods, therefore purposefully deformed so that they resembled said Gods? Things like this require a beginning and an impetus. We cannot just chalk everything up to religious mumbo-jumbo.

What if the kid was buried wearing a hat like our army wears the Busby. Buried in the hat and the fossils developed from there leaving the impression of a long head?

There used to a book available called PHYSICAL ANTHROPOLOGY - Artificial Cranial Deformation by E.J. Dingwall. It was published in the early 1930s and was full of examples of cranial deformation. It was a great read and he cited incidences of skull mischief as recent as the early 20th Century and as close as the outskirts of London.

The first studies (iirc) came about when doctors in mental asylums saw significant numbers of patients with deformed skulls. The practice of bandaging heads had the side effect of making many unsuitable for normal society as they developed a range of conditions. This was mid 19th Century so only a few generations back and these were Western European asylums. Dingwall noted that tey came from illiterate, working poor families.

The revolting practice had its roots around the Mediterranean basin 3-4 thousand years back and was taken up across Russia and her neighbours. The poor kid in the image was probably raised by an ignorant and poor family. 'Alien' as in very different from the norm, but otherwise a mistreated child who had some relic tradition imposed upon them. If we think about it, we wouldn't do this to a dog would we? Good riddance to bad traditions.

What I dont understand is how is it people used to believe evil spirits caused plagues, fear of vampires cause they didn't understand how a body decays etc yet had the knowledge or whatever you want to call it to tie some $hit around an infant babies head knowing it was going to * its head to the point it looks like a testicle? How did they know that would happen and not know that if you crap in the water you drink its not evil spirits that make you sick? Wtf

Probably suffered from some sort of Encephalopathy.

A skeleton can have four eyes, three fingered-hands, five arms, no teeth or ears, 18 ribs and two hearts. But, as long as it has a huge head, oh yes! That has to have been deformed or the result of encephalopathy. We cannot have a genuine, undeformed head, despite a host of other anatomical anomalies accompanying the skeleton that cannot be explained away as due to disease or congenital defects. No, if it's got a big, conical head, it's just got to be deformed (despite NO independent evidence that the shape of the given specimen really was due to head-binding) or due to illness because that makes the skeleton human, doesn't it, and we can then all sigh with relief that a non-human species has not been discovered that might need all scientific textbooks to be rewritten. Don't bother to check whether other skeletons have been found in the same region with large, odd-shaped heads in order to ascertain whether there was a tradition in the past in that region. Just assume that there was, based upon the fact that the custom of head-binding was practised in many parts of the world. Don't bother me with real evidence. Untested assumptions will do. If they don't, we can always resort to vacuous claims of hoaxing, can't we?

It may not be head-boarding of humans. But, you know it's headboarding.....

And they call this kind of explanation "the scientific method"!

If everything can denied the question wether something is proof is useless.....

Just a question what would it take it to be considered proof of an extraterestial skeleton.
In my opinion absolute 'proof' does not exist in the context in which the human society operates. Because 'evidence' and 'proof' hasnt be defined. For the rest every findings of an alternate human history that does not confirm archeological dogma can always be denied. Even here on this o so open minded forum
