Even though I know what you're referring to, I legit laughed out loud.

This is how they maintain 2nd class status for specific demographics. They're still subject to the same cons as everyone else (like having to pay taxes & being fully liable for any broken laws), but not subject to the same benefits & privileges. It's funny how these people have no problem with collecting tax money from transgenders or with using that tax money for non-transgender issues. But once transgenders also want taxes allocated to their issues, it becomes a problem.

Yes folks, he just tweeted that there will be NO transgender allowed in the military. This will set off a firestorm. I agree that transgender should not be allowed in the military. We need the toughest, strongest, most mentally prepared people in our military. Not people who can't decide if they want to be a boy or a girl.

Bradley (now Chelsea) Manning was described as having numerous problems because of his inability to sort out his identity.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump was against trans people serving in the military largely because of Manning's exploits leaking state department documents.

I feel like if there are exclusions like this just because of someones medical expenses or identity, then I hope to never see a Draft, and if I do, I expect to not see any of my trans friends forced into it.

If there is ever a draft, expect to see an upsurge in transgendered people

ETA: I'm just thinking and wondering. Aren't there numerous medical conditions that would preclude someone from being able to serve in the military? How is this different? If the person who wishes to serve has already transitioned to their desired gender then I'm not sure there is a problem, but if they have not I think I can see the logic in this decision.

There ARE quite a few medical issues that will bar you from enlistment, that's true. My issue with this is I don't believe that TG is a mental illness, or a "medical problem"- on the other hand, I'm not a doctor or a military leader so I suppose it's out of my hands. I just think if you can pass a psych and an physical then you should be allowed to throw yourself in the ring on the USA's behalf.

No, but thats because magic unicorns aren't allowed in the military. Men and women are allowed in so identifying as one of them should be fine.

I agree with his statement. Why should the military pay for a sex change? It was ridicilous from the start and catering to a few percent isn't worth it.

The military spends 10X on Viagra then they do to accommodate Trans folks. Why should the taxpayers pay for any stuff related to sex? Sex is dirty and awful.../sarc.

Indeed. All the arguments that the Trumpers here are thumping on ... are tried and true, rehashed, garden-variety right wing talking points.

They're not worried about money, they're not worried about combat effectiveness or fitness ... they just want to jump on the right-wing bandwagon and condemn anything non-Christian, non-White, non-Straight, non-GOP.

I mentioned earlier their playbook is very limited. The few here who have the guts to come out and admit that they don't accept LGBT (or Blacks, Muslims, Dems, whathaveyou) as fellow Americans with rights and privileges equal to theirs, is because they think we're dirty, abnormal, trash, pagans, etc. actually garner just a tad more respect from me (although not much) than the one's who ape rational discussion and can't just come out and admit their prejudices.

Bradley Manning had a problem. Then he broke the law and went to jail. Then he became Chelsea.

Nuff said? I'm sure things may have been different had the circumstances been different. Like, say, he was a door kicking grunt.

Did you have a point here?

A persons sexual identity and orientation should not be an indicator to their devotion to duty, honor, or the mission.

Trump is CnC though. It is his call to make.
he does not question their loyalty he referenced the cost

Do you find it ironic that his weekly vacations will cost taxpayers 10 times more than any treatments for trans Americans in the military?

Actually anything you do sexuaally with another person is natural IF you are not made of plastic and are made of flesh. If you want to get technical. ALso theres nothing in nature that clearly says you can only screw this or that.

Trump has done nothing to fight for the LGBT community. As a matter of fact, his administration has only done things to specifically hurt the LGBT community.

Would you want to be forced to pay for my boob-job with your tax money?

This decision actually helps the transgender community. The fact that Transgenders were allowed to have taxpayers pay for their sex-change outraged the majority. Sex-surgery belongs in the hospital, not the military. There is a place for everything.

It's already been shown in this thread that your study doesn't say what you believe it says.

No, there are not that many.

No ... there certainly aren't. There are exactly 47 trannies serving openly in the US Army on Active Duty.

Exactly 47. That's a far cry shorter than all these other people who 'need' to embellish the numbers for 'impact'. Everything they want to have people believe ... is simply a bunch of lives to further their narrative. I'm just so sick of them lying every time they open their mouths. For that reason alone I'm glad Trump kicked their sorry asses to the curb.

Exactly, and I'd bet those entered after O gave approval too. Nothing like what's being claimed. Hubby served a good 25+ years, and we never saw even ONE.

In this thread? Well! I stand corrected. Now, if someone could just the inform the DoD, who commissioned the company to do the study for them, as it seems they haven't read this thread, and are pushing this fake news! LOL

A study is just a study, not an accurate count. Accurate counts give far lower numbers. Military people know there aren't "thousands", too.
