Not if they are dressed to fit in.

It also doesn't apply to F2M.

Trump has done nothing to fight for the LGBT community. As a matter of fact, his administration has only done things to specifically hurt the LGBT community.

Somehow I have heard that song before....

Question, when will everyone who isn't LBGTXYZ finally have done enough to satisfy the LBGTXYZ community? I have a funny feeling NEVER!! It is never going to be enough because in your eyes everyone who doesn't agree with you is against you.....This is what is hurting your cause.....Shame.

Yeah .... why aren't they happy that they are ALMOST treated the same as white males.

Why can't all these other genders and races be just happy with what they've got.

my point exactly.....SMH

There isn't anything to fight for.

Then why did he tweet he was going to fight for them? Could it be... he's just a liar with a big mouth? And if he is just a liar with a big mouth, why should we believe anything he says?

Trump lies. Obama lies, Clinton lies, Bush lies, now that we have Political 101 covered, we can move on to the list of who in DC tells the truth. I'll let you start the list.

You can support LGBT folks and the military at the same time. They're not mutually exclusive ideas.

Somebody who can spend the entirety of their enlistment in a non-deployable status isn't much of an asset to anybody, are they?

This is my biggest thing with the entire idea, I could honestly give a flip.

But if you are non-deployable you are about as useful as a poop flavored lolly pop, add into the stigma that comes with the change, that person is going to be harassed 9 ways to Sunday because they are a drain on the unit cohesion, morale, and capabilities.

So they are being punished because of the stigma... because OTHERS can't accept the change. That's whats wrong.

If they are both mentally capable and physically capable to serve... yet because others get upset over someone changing gender they are suddenly not allowed to serve.

The military should not be paying for sex changes. The military medical is supposed to be for keeping the soldiers combat ready. They did let a few minor things slip as perks, but if the LGBT community was trying to force the military to pay for their sex change then they stepped over the line.
AGREED...... People are Gaming the system put in place by the other administration. Bathhouse hijinks. President Trump should be applauded for trying to correct the miscarriage.

Race isn't a choice. A person is actually born that way.

Gender is as easy and spending thousands of dollars chopping body parts off and injecting oneself with big pharmalogicals for the rest of the lives to make them LOOK how they feel.

Big GD difference.

Then all he would have to say is trans people are welcome to join up, but the military won't pay for sex change operations.

On another note let's say Transgender were allowed in the military right....Would you have a problem with them all be designated to the same unit or platoon? Say the trans platoon. Maybe infantry on the front lines? Maybe the ones the military decides to send in first.....would that be a problem for you?

Perhaps when and if they have a legitimate fight, he will support them?
So far there is nothing stopping them living their lives the same as anyone else.

They are unable to align themselves as transgender and apply for a military role.

A RAND study found that there are between 2,500 and 7,000 transgender service members in the active duty military, and another 1,500 to 4,000 in the reserves.

The military services have various ways of counting the number of transgender troops currently serving. The Pentagon has refused to release any data. But officials said there are 42 servicemembers across the Army, including the National Guard and Reserve, who have been approved to change their gender identities in the personnel system. At least 40 more are in the process of transitioning, they said.

way to pick a single word and miss the over all point.

They will be a drain on the unit, say you have 10 guys in a flight, 1 decided to transition and is now non-deployable.

the other 9 will have to pick up the slack for the 1 in deployed location spending more time away from family etc.

During the actual surgery part of transition, they will be tagged to do more time in exercises as well.

Then add in the protections that come with being Trans, when you add everything together it hurts the military unit.

Before you say but what if bill gets sick, illness is not a choice, surgery in this case is a choice.

Let me ask you this, should someone be able to get the treatment and transition, then not be able to do their job (the one they enlisted to do, and get paid to do) for the entirety of their enlistment?

Why do you care so much about how other people look?

Are men who surgically change parts of their body not allowed to serve?
Are women?
As long as they meet all the physical and mental requirements then they are still allowed to serve? Right?

So why then when someone makes changes to their body and calls themselves transgender do you suddenly throw a fit and claim they are unfit to serve?

Those who can't see why this is a horrific act ARE mentally challenged and should therefore be unfit to serve.

For me it's even more basic than dealing with unit cohesion and whatnot. People said the same thing about allowing women to serve and desegregation. People got over it eventually.

In all things, the question needs to be "does this enhance our capability or detract from it, or leave it where it's at?" So is what we're about to do a plus-one, a zero, or a negative-one solution?

In this instance, the question seems to not be that (answer: at best it's a zero, and most likely a negative-one), but rather the question has become "will this give people a warm fuzzy if we complete this social experiment that contributes nothing to force readiness and impacts something like one percent of one percent of all Americans?"

That's an ass backwards way of deciding what to do with the military.

This is what happens when you push too far - equal and opposite reaction.
Hopefully it will be a learning process for those on ridiculous crusades.
