It's quite obvious that Trump likes to talk Trump and how poorly he is treated.

SSDD.

Next, the Boy Scout Wall Building merit badge.

Why does the crowd size and reaction even matter?

I was active in scouting until I turned 18 obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout. I was at the 2005 Jamboree when Bush spoke. I'm well aware that many scouts come from Right Wing backgrounds. Regardless, even if every scout there was a card carrying member of the Young Republicans it doesn't change the fact that the BSA are a non-political organization.

The Jamboree is no place for political grandstanding.

Sooooo you think it's just a coincidence there was a RECORD BREAKING ATTENDANCE - the year PRESIDENT Trump was there?

Yeah, go on thinking that, lol.

Starting in 2013 the Jamboree moved to a permanent venue. This allows them to hold a larger number people than years past. When I was in scouts I didn't know a single person who was going to the Jamboree because of the President. They were going because going to the Jamboree is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

To be fair - now that it's in a permanent location?

What's that mean for people that have to travel across country now to go? Many can't.

Yes. If you read any of the articles or the statement about the jamboree from the Boy Scouts that's exactly what happened. Whether Trump was there or not wouldn't have effected the attendance numbers at all, because everyone was going to be there anyway.

That's reality. The real one. Not the Trump brand version.

I just noticed your OP is referencing and quoting from the WAPO.

Fake and EXTREMELY Biased news.

It's been fun, though. Thanks.

It means they have the infrastructure available to handle a larger number of people as opposed to setting up temporary facilities.

So Trump did not say the things that were quoted from his speech?

Well, we already knew Trump is narcissistic and likes to throw pity parties, so this shouldn't be a surprise.

As long as the boy scouts enjoyed it, I really don't see the issue here.

Was Trump a scout? and how many other presidents have been scouts? just wondering.

When I was a Scout, it would have been "OK, President came by. Can we get back to doing scout stuff."

Was Trump a scout?

He was sent to a military academy. He would have been one of those beating up Boy Scouts.

They may be non-political but that didn't stop some from making them a political issue, political/social canvas.

He is not. Clinton and W were both Cub Scouts. Obama was a Cub Scout in Indonesia. JFK was a Star Scout. So far the only President to attain Eagle was Ford.

I looked all over to find out - seems this guy did too.

No luck on an answer though.

To be frank, I can’t find any evidence that he was, or he wasn’t. But if I had to guess, no, Donald Trump was not a Boy Scout. Growing up in the milieu he did, it’s not likely. Billionaires don’t usually send their sons off packing without a helicopter backup.

I have been reading many parents are upset about him making it political.
