Come on man, you just bash him because he is a DEM, I wish you people would get off your damn high horse! Global Warming is real, any idiot can see that, just by looking at the data. Hell' look at the ice caps, and the glaciers. So as long as Gore is making an informative movie, that is factual, what is the problem? If he makes money, good for him. Don't you need to make money too?

The sooner you are able to remove yourself from the left/right paradigm, the sooner you will be able to join us in a reasonable discussion on such a controversial matter. Until then, by all means carry on with the incoherent screeching of "but but the republicans!!!!!"

Global warming AGAIN, is based on the AVERAGE temperature on the planet....Not based on where you live.....AGAIN that is why it is called.....GLOBAL warming. I mean how hard is that for you to grasp??

Oh please, you are acting like I tried and derail the thread, which I did not. Also how many threads have the right come in and just trashed. Do you scrutinize them as you did me? I hope so, because if not, you need to check yourself!

James hansen testified before Congress that in thirty years, the global temperature will have risen between 3 and 5 degrees (or so).

The amount of CO2 discharged to the environment has not fallen.

The current global temperature differences from the average is only 0.3 something.

how does your "data" explain that?

a reply to: TiredofControlFreaks

James Hansen got his numbers wrong. CO2 does not change temperature. CO2 follows temperature.

global warming is based on the average temperature of the entire planet?

Please, look at where temperature guages are actually located.. Whole continents, including Africa, have insufficient temperature guages and the temperature for those areas are simply estimates.

Global temperatures are dominated by the temperature of the northern hemisphere in developed countries, certainly the Unites States.

In 2015 there was snow in Jerusalem. That hasn't happened since thousands of years ago. In the past, there were ice ages when CO2 was very high. Clearly CO2 is not a warming agent.

Of course James Hanson's numbers are wrong but that is not the point.

James Hanson had a theory that he testified to 30 years ago. His theory was that the continued discharge of CO2 from the burning fossil fuels would cause global warming to a disasterous degree and would get worse from there on out.

Thirty years later, global temperatures stand at an insignificant variation from the norm. The only significant warming has occurred during El Nino years.

James Hanson hypothesis has been proven wrong. No data exists that justifies continuing to pour money into it.

No kidding, check this out. Hold on it may shake you to your little core.

It has a desert's continental weather with hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures in the summer are between 26 and 46 °C, while in winter they are between −4 and 18°C, with widespread frosts. Snowing is common, with temperatures reaching low −6 °C in some winters. Rainfall in Tabuk Area falls in the winter months from November to March, and precipitation ranges between 50 and 150 mm, with some not uncommon snow every 3–4 years

I think that the global climate is almost unimaginably complex, with complete SYSTEMS of checks and balances that are continuously coming in and out of play.

So it makes complete sense that Al Gore, intellectual leviathan that he is, has figured it out.

Personally, I think it's all a Russian plan. 'Cuz I'll tell you son, the Rooskies never take a DUMP without a plan.

Actually, I've just experienced the coolest summer ever where I live. Temps in the 20s more than 95% of the days. No such thing as CO2 induced warming. CO2 follows temperature. It does not change temperature.

With respect, global warming and/or climate change is not based on local realities, but regional and global averages. Just because some area had record snow, for example, doesn't mean that the whole earth is experiencing cooling or a lack of warming generally. This is common logical fallacy.

How would climate change siphon money away from people?

Are you saying energy independence would be a scam?

Or do you like sucking up to Saudi Arabia? Even though they are known to sponsor terrorism?

I never claimed that we shouldn't pursue energy independence. I am only pointing out that there are inaccuracies in Al Gore's bull# version of climate change. How does Saudi Arabia and terrorism fit into this discussion?

The thing is, it's possible this is a scam OR wrong.

But, as it stands now it is the fossil fuel industry and lobby that is factually hyper-corrupt and owns much of our government. THEY have a vested interest in global warming thing not being true. More people are making money off it not being true, or stopping action on it, than those who stand to gain from taking action on global warming..

I think that this is demonstrable. So it is a bit absurd to error on the side that a bunch of environmentalists are the corrupt ones..

Oil companies are making more profit than ever. There is justification for raising the prices of fossil fuels and they have all invested in alternative energies company and are raking in the government subsidies.

Environmentalists have a vested interest in keeping you scared so that they can rake in the donations.

Isn't it funny that environmental groups talk about replacing fossil fuels but are adamantly against the new nuclear developments (molten salt). Matter of fact, they are against any common sense solutions. But then again, if you understand that these people make their livings by selling fear, its not funny at all.

Ill take Al Gore seriously when our overlords start shutting down their factory farms, gas flares, etc, and stop their general wanton destruction of the environment..

People will still be arguing over c.c. when the earth is a barren wasteland..

Thank you, O corporate father...

you are an overblown hysteric. in developed countries - land, air and water are all cleaner and in fact, very clean.

There is no barren wasteland. Food production is sufficient to feed 8 billion people.

Get over your hysteria.
