Want to help the poor? Taxes have absolutely cratered for the upper income earners. There was a system in place that was a incentive to invest. That is now gone. Running a govt is very expensive and the $$$ has to come from somewhere.

And despite this data which clearly shows what the real problem is, when it comes to deficit reduction, the only plan we ever hear offered up by the Republicans is to find a ways to reduce spending.

The really ironic part is, they still want to cut both ends of the equation.

They insistently want to cut both, revenues or taxes and they want to cut expenses or social programs.

Except for the military, they're always eager to increase funding for that.

They consistently talk about their yearning to take us back to the good ole days, but not when it comes to federal tax rates.

What's it gonna take to get them to address the revenue side of our budgetary/deficit issues?

Many people work full time and need the assistance because pay is so low.

Drug testing to receive tax funded "help".
Only if they test to see who pays. In other words you use MJ-test pos-you can't pay into the system because you will be omitted.

The only way to fix anything has to start with the monetary system itself.

But...

It's time to lift African Americans out of the inner cities of big cities and into the suburbs. It is long overdue.

Ivanka's going to do that?

Yes, and if you don't agree with that - you're racist against Germans.

Everything is true that you say......but in China! They are not moving those jobs back over here just so the inner city folks or about anyone else can have a job. Republicans even are already moving to stop Trumps plans to make it economically feasible to do so.

A crash in the medical industry will get everyone's attention. This is going to happen, as we can see he repubs had 7 years to get a plan together, but did not. They are not leaders, but keeping mind the dems also had the last 4ish years to get a plan together as well. They knew 4 years ago the ACA was heading to balls-ville.

Not one politician has the gonads to look the camera straight in the eye and tell the US population that we are broke. And if we want to fix this we are going to have to pay, pay big and start on Monday.

The problem with that idea is that when the people who can't so they go into "public service" by becoming politicians start screwing with the rest of us who can to the point where we can't either, there isn't much alternative left. We have about two choices left:

1.) Those of us who can and have the meansgo into to politics to combat those who can't.

2.) We start shooting to take back the country from those who can't.

It has been predicted that when things in this country really get bad, you would start seeing the successful who were in other professions go into politics which was not their preference, but they see no other way to fix what's broken.

The Republican establishment want power as much as the Democrats do, and they saw it as an easy vote issue, not as something to actually repeal or fix. Do that, and you have to find other issues to run on.

Guess OP is too busy working on that daily thread count to come back and debate or discuss.

Weird.

It's not easy to overcome a lobby as powerful as that of the private, for-profit, healthcare insurance industry. It's a slow process.

Hillary got nowhere. When Obama pushed the ACA, single-payer and/or Medicare-for-all representatives weren't allowed a seat at the table.

When it comes to healthcare, IMO, it's high time we quit giving any portion of our basic healthcare dollars to private, for-profit, healthcare insurance providers who do absolutely nothing to improve our actual health or medical outcomes.

if she wanted to help those poor inner city folks, weather black or white...
she'd stop getting her crap from china and use some of that fortune to open a factory in one of those inner cities and train those folks to do the job the chinese were doing and paying them a living wage for their work??

gee, if I kept just avoiding the doctors like I've been doing...
I could live out of my natural born life and have some left over for my kids with a million dollars!!!
she really doesn't need any pay!

Perhaps the reason more and more people "can't" is because pay has stagnated for over a generation. Well not everyone's pay.....

Hahahahahahaha!

Sure. Helping the American people. She's a real Mother Theresa.

I didn't know minimizing nepotism was a new American virtue. Didn't vote for Hillary because I don't want dynasties in power, but we got one anyway.

Tax is theft.

Umm, no it isn't. If you're paid legally in the US, you're agreeing to taxes.

We have agreed to taxes because we have agreed to adhere to the civilization in which we live.

Who are you going to shoot, the politicians or the voters who voted them in?

She received her final payment in the tens of millions a year last year. She wants to help the poor by going into politics. African Americans, most of them live in the inner cities of big cities, think Democrats will help them. Democrats will never help them.

I take it you mean listening to Trump and the inner city problems. Well, let's be clear about these things, violence and gangs in the cities has been around for near a couple of hundred years by now. The love of the gun..the old wild west syndrome, never really went away in areas that were underprivileged and poor. To fix this needs a whole new ethos, and Trump spouting in hyperbole is not the way, this is something for people who know what they are doing in many disciplines, it does exclude the idea of police beating the shiite out of everybody, or just hanging them...as Trump has expressly wished for in the past.
Here's one initiative from 2016,
cops.usdoj.gov...

So it has been researched before, I believe the above initiative was implemented by Obama...around the same time Trump was wishing to smash somebody in the face.

Trouble with Trump, is that one can't believe a word he says, even when he isn't being rhetorical.
Blind faith though, is something else.

They're working the issue from the wrong direction.
Trying to find a way for average wage earners to pay for health care that is way too expensive in the first place.
They should be looking for ways to reduce the cost of health care and a way to maintain good health.
How about getting a system that keeps us healthy in a proactive way instead of reacting to illness especially preventable diseases.
They'd also have to start limiting litigation against doctors . (who have to maintain high cost malpractice insurance that we pay for) and limit litigation against hospitals. (Jurors love to make institutions pay the little guy, but fail to see that ultimately the little guy always pays in the end with higher priced hospital stays)
I know there's no easy way around it. People do get injured. Limiting punitive damages puts a cheap price on life. I know. And doctors do make mistakes.
Who knew health care could be so complicated...
