There it is ... if people learn how to solve problem and think critically, then they might also develop that irritating habit of thinking for themselves and analyzing other areas they are taught.

And man's natural condition for much of human history has been natural servitude to those who did bother to learn such things as math, too. Most times, they were called things like serf, peasant, or even slave.

Justify what?

You got the proposal all screwed up and started ranting about something you made up.

And engineers make really pretty drawings that later have to be re-engineered or modified because it doesn't always work out in theory.

There are teachers out there that definitely do prepare kids for the real world, but it seems some are just content coming up with theories on how they think things should be and teaching that.

Why bother learning how to read if Siri or Google or whatever the device is can tell you what show to watch, what direction to go?

Nobody is saying that people should not learn math. Maybe the bar needs to be raised for reading comprehension?

You seem to be triggered by your own creation from imagination.
Nobody is justifying lowering the standards. You are imagining things that aren't there.

If being upset over the idea of institutes of higher learning lowering standards is being "triggered" then I guess I'm triggered.

Every single time somebody posts the word "triggered" an Angel gets all pissed off.

That's the difference between teaching and indoctrinating.

If colleges and universities do that then of course I would be triggered.
Why would seeking solutions to the math literacy problem for AA degrees trigger you?

Eliminating math does help with math literacy problems, doesn't it.

Oh wait, they don't want to eliminate math, they just want to find an easier math instead of algebra.

But this isn't about lowering standards?

So you have not read the article yet?
This isn't about lowering standards.
You are lying right out of your ass.

In ten years, writing in cursive will be like writing in encrypted code or Sanskrit to the uninitiated.

But no, education isn't lowering the bar.

Easy question.

Do you think educational standards should be;

Raised

Lowered

Remain the same

We get that knowledge is good but the article isn't about people not acquiring it.

Its about focusing in what better serves in a chosen field.

Hyperbole does not make your case.

Who doesn't want that? You are creating a narrative that people want to dumb down people. The only possibility is that the corproations and various (putting on tinfoil hat) nefarious organizations and government are trying to dumb down the population to easily control them and make money off them.
