It's better to spend that money on more bombs I guess, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

Bingo! We spend more than the next eight countries combined on "defense" (we haven't been attacked by a country since WWII).

And we are 56th in spending on education (gdp which admittedly is still high with our economy size, but we're still not in the top 25 percentile with our students)

Reference your first sentence...and why exactly do you think that is (that we haven’t been attacked by a country since WWII)? Study some history (hint, Cuban missole crisis for one).

Almost forgot, according to you guys Russia has been attacking the US non-stop, forever!

On topic, I hated algebra...but still managed to struggle through. In fact there are MANY things I had to take 9n college I’ve never used. People need to quit whining and the Left snd the Dems need to quit trying to destroy America.

You're right. Everyone should be forced to be an astronaut.

I didn't say everyone needs to join the air force and swim around in swimming pools in big suits or ride in circles at multiple Gs...

They should just have to learn basic info to justify a degree in "higher education".

The career choice is what determines what will be needed.

Where did you get the idea that anything fancy was needed to figure that out?

At least it shows why you think everyone needs advanced maths.

And who told you that your career wouldn't change in 10 years or 5 years? Who sets your career in stone and tells you, "You will only need to know these things during the course of your life so don't bother learning anything else."
Look around you. Get out more. Talk to people who are above 30 and find out how many different directions their careers have swerved in the past 10-15 years.

But you're probably right: We don't need no stinkin' standards.

My career was in computers. I knew that I would have to keep learning to keep up. No computer models or tea leaves required. Not all careers are like that.

Sorry but that is a strawman.

That would be me. I talk to myself all the time but try not to when I'm in public.

But you're probably right: We don't need no stinkin' standards.

Who said anything about "no" standards?

Bullsh#t.

You're promoting dumbing down.

Math too hard for you also?

If people tried to raise the bar instead of lowering it, the leftist would probably lose people since they'd be thinking for themselves.

That's the problem with so many of you socialist-whiney assed leftists.

If something is hard, you try to ban it or remove it.

Suck it up, cupcake.

First of all, I see that you conveniently ignored the part where you're too dumb to actually even know what algebra is, since you seem to think it consists of simple addition and multiplication. It's pretty amusing that the moron complaining about lowering standards and people being uneducated doesn't actually grasp the topic of his own thread. Adding together the price of movie tickets and popcorn isn't algrebra, nitwit. You're posting about lowering educational standards and math being too hard, and yet you're too dumb and uneducated to even know what algebra actually is. That's endlessly amusing.

Second of all, no. No, math definitely isn't too hard for me. I can 100 percent guarantee that I've had many more, and much more advanced, mathematics courses than you in my life, and a far more comorehensive understanding of advanced math, seeing as how my education required advanced mathematics skills. And also seeing as how, once again, you DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT ALGEBRA ACTUALLY EVEN IS!!! Which, while amusing, is also extremely embarrassing and pathetic. Shocking that somebody like you would just make baseless, idiotic assumptions and generalizations about somebody with no actual insight, though. I'm absolutely shocked. So out of character!

Third, anybody who uses the terms "cupcake" and "snowflake" with even a tiny degree of sincerity is basically announcing to the world that they are an idiotic, narrow-minded moron who is incapable of thinking for themselves. It's ironic that you talk about people not thinking for themselves, when all you do is regurgitate the exact same things you hear from Trump and his brethren, without any modicum of original thought or insight. socialist cupcake snowflake. lol. So original and clever!

Also, have I mentioned the fact that YOU'RE TOO DUMB TO EVEN KNOW WHAT ALGEBRA IS?!? The person accusing others of trying to dumb things down is the one who doesn't even understand what algebra is, regurgites clichéd insults without any originality or insight or understanding, and grossly oversimplifies everything because he's incapable of grasping the deeper complexities of an issue. I'm sure you would recognize the irony, if only you weren't far too dense to recognize and grasp it.

Everyone who wants to be an educated person needs basic algebra skills because that is part of basic education. What is a strawman about that? If you are going to go about saying you have an education then you should really have such skills.
If you are simply training for a career, you need only go to tech schools, not universities or colleges. Please. Spare the university and college professors your complaints about "having to learn stuff that I don't care about." You seem to be one of those who are confused about job training versus education.

That isn't true.

If you are going to go about saying you have an education then you should really have such skills.

I don't think I have ever actually said those words.

They don't offer careers at universities?

You keep talking like I'm still in school. I'm not and when I was I didn't have any problem with any subject.

I just happen to also not have a problem if any of them are no longer a requirement in certain fields.

It isn't all about you personally. The "you" is not meant personally, but the universal "you."
Believe whatever you wish. Bless your heart.

Colleges and universities are institutions of education. Training is a different set of skills. As I said, apparently you (personally) are one of those who have confused an education with training.

Well, I'm cool with people complaining about stuff. It is part of their freedom of speech.

Are you saying that someone who does not attend a college or university is uneducated?

If not, then you are just arguing semantics.

I'll start with the top, plenty of countries haven't been attacked by other countries. Norway, Sweden, UK, France, Germany, Japan....

To the second, that's cute, you put me with the left even though I voted against the left.

Nice try with your logical fallacies.

Also, I'm tired of Dumbasses who think education is stupid trying to keep America from getting back to where it should be.

These inbred morons are giving idiots a bad name!

I see we have an oxford scholar among us.

Mathematics is tough for anyone who is not a self proclaimed expert in the field. Remember doing long division in middle school? If you enjoyed that then I would call you a liar. Mathematics is important but why bother with long division when nowadays a calculator can provide a correct answer with a quicker response?

And if you want to play the numbers game here's a inbred moron quiz for you-if I got a K2 on the DH then where would 8 be? I guarantee you wouldn't know the answer unless you googled it. Give credit when it's due and stop with the superiority complex.

At age 46 I am still waiting for algebra to save my life.

Make it an elective.

And I'm a stupid rightie.

And you are going to justify lowering standards also.

*shrugs*

Own it.

Been busy.

You never addressed a legitimate thing anyone brought up to you.

You're an ineffectual provocateur. Sad!

Stick to misapplying Constitutional protections in the name of Trump.
