Algebra is the most failed course at community colleges across the country. Is it time to nix the requirement? n.pr/2vCphok

mobile.twitter.com...

NPR tweeted a question.

Let me paraphrase;

"Math is hard, so should we have to do it?"

America is going to be one of the dumbest nations on earth because we don't want to make college "hard" for the poor little twits.

I can't see how anyone with 2 brain cells would agree with NPR. This goes beyond stupid. This is criminal. This is a deliberate attempt to dumb-down people. Now NPR may be all for "Womyn Studies" and "Gyno-Anger Weaving" and "Hating Whitey".

But math?

Nah. Too hard.

*pouty face*

These inbred morons are giving idiots a bad name!

That was a joke.

I can, but it was all self taught after I graduated high school. I have friends from India that had a better education than I did while growing up.

It's better to spend that money on more bombs I guess, but that's a whole 'nother topic.

No one is being forced to go to college.

If it is too hard for you don't go and learn a trade.

WTF is wrong with people.

Actually I'm debt free.

Thanks for asking though.

Stick to the topic snowflake.

There are plenty of other places to whine and cry on ATS.

It's high past time to defund this nonsense. PBS and NPR can sell ads if they want to stay afloat. Welcome to capitalism.

It was only a matter of time. First we had the "math is racist" gaggle of dumbasses, searching for new and creative ways to excuse personal failures. www.theatlantic.com... Since that didn't widely work and we still have some non-brain washed Americans out there who know that 1+1 will always equal 2, now they'll simply argue math shouldn't be taught. Anything under the sun to mask personal shortcomings, laziness, and deflect blame for failure.

WATCH PBS news sometime.

It's about as BORING as CSPAN.

WHY?

It's non-partisian.

Bingo! We spend more than the next eight countries combined on "defense" (we haven't been attacked by a country since WWII).

And we are 56th in spending on education (gdp which admittedly is still high with our economy size, but we're still not in the top 25 percentile with our students)

My son once said that to me.

I said, "Aren't you going out on a date tonight?"

He said, "Yes".

I said, "Did you plan what you're going to spend?"

He said, "Yeah. Why?"

I said, "Two people, at two meals, plus two movie tickets and two drinks plus two popcorn."

He said, "yeah, so?"

Algebra.

Maybe they should replace math with a box of crayons and a coloring book.

I used to like NPR, but over the years it became apparent I was being taken for a liberal ride. Havn't listened now for two or three years.
