What?

Is this really how we're going to spin this?

We shouldn't be arming ANYONE in Syria.

There are no good factions out there. The FSA had long ago been infiltrated by AQ aligned groups in the area. Some are just as bad as ISIS itself. In Syria ISIS is a player in a convoluted struggle for control by various extremists and the government. It isn't the big player it is in Iraq where they have done a huge amount of damage. That doesn't mean they aren't capable and well armed. Most of those arms came from us in one way or another.

That # has to stop.

Good it's a civil war let them fight their own battle. But I mean a big BUT, what happens 5 or 10 years down the road. Are the rebels going to come at us like the Taliban did after when we stopped funding and arming them against the Russians. Just a hypothetical 🚓

We should never have been supporting those rebels in the first place. The USA has made a lot of wrong moves in the past.

Stop spending my tax money to give weapons to
people that have nothing to do with the safety
of the US.

Stop playing war games with my money!

Trump has done the right thing. Obama was the one far in the wrong to arm and supply these terrorists in the first place. and yes i said terrorists. Al Qaeda is and was among those so called rebels even at the very beginning. ISIS was pretty much started as one of those rebel groups. and look at the result of Obama's working with them. they have become pretty much the biggest world wide terrorist threat. taking over from Al Qaeda, who as i noted was and is also one of the terrorist factions involved on the side of the US under Obama.

it is Obama (and thus the US under his leadership) that is far in the wrong in this so called civil war. but lets call it what it really is, and that is yet another try at the US and allies taking a country by force to install a government friendly to them. (Obama really seems to have liked doing that). or as it is called in a case like this, a proxy war, arming, equipping and training non US military forces to fight the war for them, in their favour. it is Russia and the legally recognized government under Assad that is in the right. Russia was invited due to their treaty obligations to help defend the rightful government from the western backed terrorist forces.

it is interesting to note the complete turn around the US (and allied countries) did in regards to terrorism between the Republican President Bush, and the democrat President Obama. in fact if we were to place the US under each of those two Presidents as separate countries in place at the same time, with the same decisions and policies they each had. those two countries would likely have been at war with each other over terrorism. so it really should not be surprising that with a new Republican President taking over from the democrat Obama, that it has changed around again.

here are some bits of the famous speech made September 21/2001 after the 9-11 attacks by then President Bush (Republican).

On September the 11th, enemies of freedom committed an act of war against our country. Americans have known wars, but for the past 136 years they have been wars on foreign soil, except for one Sunday in 1941. Americans have known the casualties of war, but not at the center of a great city on a peaceful morning.
Aericans have known surprise attacks, but never before on thousands of civilians. All of this was brought upon us in a single day, and night fell on a different world, a world where freedom itself is under attack.
Americans have many questions tonight. Americans are asking, "Who attacked our country?"
The evidence we have gathered all points to a collection of loosely affiliated terrorist organizations known as al Qaeda. They are some of the murderers indicted for bombing American embassies in Tanzania and Kenya and responsible for bombing the USS Cole.
Al Qaeda is to terror what the Mafia is to crime. But its goal is not making money, its goal is remaking the world and imposing its radical beliefs on people everywhere.

Our war on terror begins with al Qaeda, but it does not end there.

Our response involves far more than instant retaliation and isolated strikes. Americans should not expect one battle, but a lengthy campaign unlike any other we have ever seen. It may include dramatic strikes visible on TV and covert operations secret even in success.
We will starve terrorists of funding, turn them one against another, drive them from place to place until there is no refuge or no rest.
And we will pursue nations that provide aid or safe haven to terrorism. Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: Either you are with us or you are with the terrorists.
From this day forward, any nation that continues to harbor or support terrorism will be regarded by the United States as a hostile regime. Our nation has been put on notice, we're not immune from attack. We will take defensive measures against terrorism to protect Americans.
edition.cnn.com...

and yet the very next President, Obama (democrat), went completely against this. the US under Obama has been supporting terrorists, not just the very one named by bush in that speech Al Qaeda, but the new and worse ISIS, stemming out of Obama's civil war against Assad. the US under Obama was a state sponcor of terrorism and was thus a "hostile regime".

you can not even argue that the US under Obama was only trying to help the people of that country fight their oppressors. after that speech and for several years there were discussions about terrorists/freedom fighters and such. what it always came down to is that one man's freedom fighter, rebel etc, is another man's terrorist. and it was also discussed that in supporting rebellions, you are in fact supporting terrorism. to put it bluntly the "French resistance" that highly regarded group that helped fight the Nazi Germans in ww2, were in fact TERRORISTS. the Germans even called them that. they did use terrorist tactics, known as Guerrilla warfare.

Obama used CIA to supply thousands of TOW anti tank guided missiles to rebels and blew up thousands of SAA tanks. This is the reason Russia's puppet Assad has not been able to put down the uprising. The orange one reversed Obama's policy and stopped TOW missiles to rebels. This means Putin's puppet Assad will eventually crush rebels, much to Putin's delight.

And it is about time!

Either boots on the ground or hell from above - or nothing at all.

Obama's half assed solution of arming known terrorists and (by proxy) enemies of America was his perhaps baddest decision as president:

  • It hurt the Syrian public who got caught in the crossfire between Assad forces and the equally brutal opposing factions

  • It hurt the region by empowering government toppling, theocracy promoting, terrorist groups

  • It hurt Europe, who is buckling under the pressure of refugees (and migrants posing as such)

  • It hurt White House relations with the Kremlin

  • It hurt America herself by arming her enemies and strengthening ISIS in the Middle East and God knows where else

  • It hurt the presidency by showing unwillingness to commit, and it made America look weak, fractured, and indecisive. In effect America is losing a war it she not even fighting.

(Mind you,I am not saying that the US should have gone to war - but if you do not want to go to war, then you should not publically and continually call for the forcefully removal of a sitting president)

So yes, by all means, President Trump, please either stop the pathetic support or go all in and show the legendary might of the armed forces of the Uniteds States of America and make it over with.

(I prefer the solution that is less likely to start a third world war)

Arms are pouring into Syria every day. Look at these SAA dudes with those big guns. These are Iran supplied. Iran supplies arms every day to back SAA.

twitter.com...

Good, they're regional allies.
Let Iran pickup the slack!

and this isnt no damn uprising Assads putting down. Those staged riots during the Arab spring have been proven as CIA funded tactics. This war has moved long past those riots... those rioters sided with Syria and Assad long ago in this battle against western backed militants pouring in from Jordan and Turkey!

The very program that sucked us into the Syrian debacle initiated by Obama and the deep state and you support it??

Ending this program is one step to solving Syria that WE helped create.

WELL DONE, President Trump!

This is just pathetic.

Trump campaigned on not interfering in Syria, people on the left and right were furious at Obama for giving aid to the terrorists.

But now that Trump is ending that aid it's a bad thing? The opposition, ie Al-Nusra, Al-Qaeda, and the Islamic State are clearly the bad guys in this war.

They should get no help of any kind from the US. If anything the US should help Syria destroy the terrorist "moderate opposition".

I think all the pro-terrorist idiots on the left who are gonna come out of the woodwork in support of the Syrian terrorists just to spite Ttump should probably end up under surveillance and be put on an anti-terror watchlist

In fact they were freedom fighters resisting the terror of a Nazi occupation. You may call their tactics Guerilla Warfare, which is pretty much spot on, but that has no bearing on the quality and conditions of their struggle. The Nazi propaganda is plain Bollocks and that's it.

Open up a book and spare me your distortion of history, how's that?

Arming the rebels is part of the reason why isis seized and grew from the Syrian uprising. The USA need to get out of this horrible proxy war agenda.

Remember Obama kept telling us we won't be in Syria while deploying basically mercenaries and supplies to the rebels behind our backs

Maybe isis will return those shiny new Toyota trucks
