So they came out with yet another Obamacare repeal bill, this time keeping the tax on the rich to pay for medicaid expansion. Actually, it's not that hard. Get rid of those bloodsucking insurance companies, let free market take place, and all will be well.

"We have a thing called health care. I'm sure you haven't been reading about it too much," the president quipped.

"You get a couple here and you say, great, and then you find out you just lost four over here," Trump said. "Health care is tough," said Trump. "But," the president added, "I think we're going to have something that's really good and that people are going to like."

"We're going to find out over the next — you know, we just extended for two weeks," Trump said, referring to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's decision to delay the Senate recess to get a health bill passed, along with other legislation.

"I'm sitting waiting for that bill to come to my desk," Trump told the Christian Broadcasting Network. "I hope that they do it. They've been promising it for years."

Sorry. He doesn't get a pass on this. And this is why:

Trump PROMISED the American people that as soon as he got in office he would get them a better, less expensive system for EVERYONE. He said that., Repeatedly. And people voted for him.

Then he got elected and all of a sudden it was 'who knew healthcare would be this hard?' Pretty much everyone Donald for the last couple of decades at least. Did you ASK anyone? Or what?

Then finally it was, 'don't replace, just repeal'. Up yours Americans.

So what was it? Did Trump just bald-face lie to the American people to get elected?

Was he, the ultimate businessman, just plain stupid?

Was he SO arrogant that he feels like he knows more than anyone else and can do anything?

Or do you have some other convoluted explanation to get him off the hook?

Not all promises can be kept. Things don't always go as planned. Especially in the US where there is a 2 party system that obstruct each other. It is understandable it can take a while. If Hillary won, she would get nothing done because of GOP controlled Congress.

Sometimes trump does say the right things. People want to act like this mess is all his doing but
the republicans have had years to come up something that is right for ALL usa citizens, but so
far have failed to deliver.

Nothing works for everyone. Everything has trade offs. Everything has positives and negatives. Unless robots do everything for free and there is unlimited resources.

I'm pretty sure thats the point trump was making in that interview. It sounds like he realy does want it to work for all.

But your right , that's impossible. For one to gain another must lose.
If I had the power to do so I would give more cheaper and yes even free healthcare to the poor by taking
a little from the rich. Because the rich have many many ways of getting what they want and more importantly what they need.
While the poor does not. Someone has to be hurt so why not hurt the ones who can take it rather than hurt the ones that would be destroyed by it.

No judgement: If you agree that to give to some a few most have things taken, who do my fellow ats members believe should have things taken and who should have things given?

Those of you who believe no one should EVER been giving anything ,need not answer.
And again no judgement I believe all pov can be valid.

I am personally against punishing the rich with taxes to pay for the poor. Nobody gave anything to the rich. The rich earned it.

How do we know the rich even have a problem with giving a little more in taxes so that many my have better lives?

This is an honest question. Why doesn't our government get them all together and ask them?
For that mater why doesn't our government have us vote on the healthcare bill being put forward ?
Wouldn't that be a better way of truly knowing what the majority of the people want.
Is it just me or wouldn't a more fair way to do this would be to just let the rich vote on a bill that will raise their taxes.
Maybe they would surprise us.

Government giving more voice to the people.....I can dream right.lol

Because everything has to be a balance. Give an inch and they will ask for a mile. There should be few rich and many poor. This is the natural order. Without the natural order, society collapses, like socialist countries, for example USSR and Venezuela. There should be no taxes on the rich to pay for the poor. If the poor can't make money, there are reasons.

It is the rich that propels society forward. The rich want longer life, better live, live in space. That's what drives technological progress that benefit everyone.

Not in my experience. I have several times given room and food to homeless people asking nothing in return. They knew that it would only be for a few weeks and they would have to go after that. And they did. Thanking me and never asking for anything else from me. Yes, in my 37 years I've had more often than not just simple been thanked for my kindness and not taken advantage of.

Do people often take advantage of your kindness?

Do you honestly believe that giving free healthcare to the poor will collapse our society?
And its not just the rich we are talking about paying a little by the way. I pay for the aca in my taxes just like everyone else. And I am no where near being rich.

And I am sorry but that this is the natural order stuff is just nonsense that those with limited imaginations say. We made up the way our current society functions and we are quite capable of inventing a new way. No type of society is truly sustainable, certainly not our current capitalist one. It's only been around for a little over 200 years and look at the problems we face already. No , what we need is ether a combination of the things that worked in communism, socialism and capitalism or to come up with a completely different way.

Screw it, flat tax and basic catastrophic medical from said taxes.

Do you think we will have a viable medical system in the US if we continue down this road? There is a reason the industrialized countries we trade with have a tax based system. It is to control cost-a side effect is better care.

I was thinking of doing a thread on healthcare but I'll post here....

I think the answer to this healthcare mess is incentives. Capitalism works better than other forms of government because of incentives. Obamacare is failing because healthy people don't have an incentive for paying into the system.

There could be incentives like free parking for a period of f time or reduction of DMV fees, etc..
Find an incentive for people to pay for healthcare and they'll be willing to pay. It's how capitalism works.

How is a very small incentive going to get healthy people to buy into a broken system? There is a reason we are one of the very few industrialized nations that have this predatory style medical system in place.

It really wasnt a bald face lie from Don. The liers were all the republican jackasses who just swore they had a hot bill all pounded out and ready to go after the election. they look like a confused gaggle of gooses now. And they are the ones trying to protect the insurance firms and accommodating the left.

Oh look at Cruz getting a bit of spot light kissing the class struggle ass.

Whats really wrong with the dam system is tobacco, sugar and salted down trash food. 80% of what health care is all about is taking care of this crap ola.

Its not hard at all.

1) Like you said, get rid of insurance companies.

2) Gut the FDA and get rid of the drug scheduling system.

3) Limit all drug patents to 5 years and make them all non-renewable.

4) Protect medical professionals from BS lawsuits.

5) Force all medical practices and institutions to provide itemized prices for services upon request.
