This is one dark web site of many. 87K users but it's only been up since the end of 2016 according to the article. That's little more than half a year it's been around and 87K users navigated the dark web and signed up. That's insane.

So one operator is found and arrested and another will pop up in his place within days. It's like the drug trade. Take out one seller and they're replaced immediately.

And someone tried connecting this to teens earlier in this thread. There's a helluva difference between being attracted to a 16/17 yr old who could pass as 18-20 and real child porn, pre-pubescent, little kids, toddlers. That's just sick. It's an entirely different level.

That number... is quite frightening. I hope there is more investigation taking place because out of 87,000 cases? There is always a chance for a politician to be within the mix. Or even possibly higher organizations which ties to the Catholic church.

This could be a two edged sword, since a "bust" can also mean a "cover up" or destroying "loose ends".

I think only the first node knows the user's IP address, and only the last node knows what site the user is looking at, but there are ways to find more about the users.

Someone running an exit node can see the unencrypted data, like user names.

Czech Rep. is member of EU, cooperates with other European countries and is member of many global security networks. It is true that lot of porn sites are hosted here but it is because we are inet hub for central Europe. Cheap professional hosting in short.

I work for relatively small ISP, say 100k clients. By law we are forced to store all positional data for 6 month (basically all packet headers from/to our network). Oh boy ... it is one rack full of 4TB HDDs.

While our police is probably still using mechanical typewriters and specialized cyber unit may be ready sometime next year, there is no problem for any EU or Interpol member to get what they need. German uniformed police can in some circumstances operate on our territory (we are vassal state).

Two things:
- 87,000 users doesn't mean 87,000 different people, just look at ATS and how many users never logged in;
- all sites, but specially "niche" sites, work by word of mouth, so when one starts people tell each other.

So one operator is found and arrested and another will pop up in his place within days. It's like the drug trade. Take out one seller and they're replaced immediately.

And the way it works it's the same: there are suppliers, distributors and consumers, so stopping the consumers, unless they stop all, will not stop the producers and distributors.

The attitude seems to scale out as well. If you have children you will have certainly noticed the disconnect in many cases where other adults interact with children without much consideration of the child's parents where there should be. Coaches calling and asking for your child without even acknowledging the parent ect, building relationships excluding the parent at inappropriate ages or without the motions to vet themselves with the parents.

Actually most child molestation cases are done by a family member.

Pedophiles don't necessarily molest children, they're simply sexually or emotionally attracted to them; or both.

I agree with you on that one. On the adult erotic fiction site Literotica the second largest category is Incest/Taboo involving mainly involving teens but a few are written about much younger characters. These can be flagged and removed but the point is they exist and are quite popular

Quite How on earth can these children recover from the traumas and abuse they've suffered? I have to say, can they ever function again in a "normal" society? Wouldn't it be nice if we could re-boot and erase? The sheer number of children that go missing in all countries every year is staggering. If these children were simply being murdered then the wilderness would by now be strewn with bodies but I think its clear they are being taken for one reason only and that is sex.

I saw the first half of a Dr Phil episode where he interviewed a woman who was sold to a billionaire pedophile at birth. It was so, so sad. She spoke about the other kids held in cages at the mansion where she lived. She could tell which ones were abducted because they would scream and cry the whole time whereas the ones that were 'born into it' just accepted being tortured. She said there were parties where the children would "entertain" wealthy men, many whom she now recognises as being Religious leaders, high up in international governments and company CEOs. It was so sick I had to turn the tv off. That episode will haunt me to the end of my days. If given the chance I would torture those pedophiles and I'd feel justified doing it.

Im all for executing pedo's, but it simply needs to be done swiftly and without glee. If torture and slow excruciating death's are peoples thing, I can recommend some websites that would probably change some minds around here. Even the most horrible humans, it can be difficult to witness them being dismembered or skinned alive. Or beheaded slowly with dull blades. it is not at all as pleasant a thing to witness and some would initially infer. It also destroys the soul of those who must carry out such inhumane atrocities, albeit many times they are already soulless.

That's probably because Tor was funded by DARPA for some years, but as the source code is available anyone that understands it can see if that's true or not.

Exactly. If you see the news of child porn producers being arrested you will see that in many cases they are the parents of the abused children.

Unless, they are minors. Minors who have endured abuse are probably going to express at least a temporary interest. If someone was a victim who never produced or distributed this stuff, nor has never made an attempt to make contact with a child I'd say they probably don't need jail time at all since they have already shown some self restraint.

IP's etc. can be stolen and spoofed and cellphones cloned... so I would hope that if society goes on a quest to remove such they collect as much data as possible as logs so that these criminals of mind or conscience are not just arbitarily collected... it could put innocent people behind bars as victims to others crimes the same as the children as victims... two innocents victimized so that the perpetraitors get away does not seem very fair or just.

The internet is still a difficult place to law on... people can steal information an image make a profile on say twitter or where ever spoof the IP and issue threats or whatever and then watch the magic happen as they frame someone, many black hat hackers make a lot of money to do just that... they do not care about the vendetta that another may have.

Child abuse is pitiful and it comes from those that have poor control of themselves, the same as rapists need to feel in control or power.

It is important to try to prevent planting those sorts of ideas in the individual as soon as possible so it does not take root as a desire or behavior in an individual.

If it has taken root or the desire has been planted; then one should take personal responsibility and turn themselves in... many hide behind churches that they know will look the other way hoping that they will abandon whatever practice by taking the practice of the religion instead of using it as a safe harbor. That is not what going for refuge or asylum was meant for... that is why "insane" aslyums were made a part of public health to begin with.

Of course with all of the patting on the back in churches of it's ok and other light handed approaches; then the public health has become filled with those abused by those living a facade in public life as "normal" putting on aires and pretending to be a good member of soceity instead of revealing the monster at home.

The public is well aware of the problems at home hiding behind closed doors that bring problems to society by those seeking and taking refuge and asylum instead of personal responsibility for their heinious crimes...

Prison does treat individuals this is part of why housing inmates is so expensive...

If you or someone you know is a victim of abuse please do not spread that abuse; instead urge them or if oneself to get treatment by checking into a facility for such and admitting what one has done to others... the reason for such... is that healing instead of running can start and the sooner that it starts the quicker the problem can be taken care of.

Cowardice is a lifetime of running hiding trying to escape not only personal responsibility but the responsibility to society and the public at large so that it can function on a safer level.

Like any addict with a habit they will deny the problem; but when it is wanting to feed off of others; especially the most impressionible or innocent in society; then they are just making future conspirators in their infection on all of society in passing on their gross disposition.

It takes a lot of work to avoid such a bent to takes a lot of effort in building healthy coping skills against such and it takes public health coupled with these religious intitutions to make sure it happens as well as law enforcement efforts to make sure those that do not comply be taken in for that treatment instead of continually running and abusing as a serial offender.
