National Geographic holds a yearly photo contest. Submissions were closed on June 30th and the winners will not be announced until August. However, the editors have released some of their favorite photos for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of my favorites. I found these at Bored Panda, click the link to see more. Hope you enjoy.

Green Gours reflection

the largest known cave passage in the world. You need to do trekking for 2 days before you arrive to this magnificent place. Hang Sơn Đoòng cave is located in Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park, Quang Binh province, Việt Nam.

Left over from Etna eruption in 2002.

I shot this picture in Sicily, with my drone. Those waves of lava are from Etna's big eruption back in 2002, this eruption was so spectacular that was recorded by Lucasfilm and integrated into the landscape of the planet Mustafar in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III (Photo And Caption By Placido Faranda / National Geographic Travel Photographer Of The Year Contest)

Momma Bear and cub

I love this one, reminds me of Super Troopers. "schnozberries tase like schnozberries"
They're licking the salt on the roads.

Imagine walking up on this pride as you traverse a field

Shelf cloud in Canada (This is how they keep Beiber out)

My parents used to buy me those thick nat geo binders every year, and the magazines. My favorite thing was the photographs and the photograph contests.

Thank you so much for sharing. Natgeo content has always had a very calming effect on my mind and soul.

A lightning strike on a volcano? "Run!" ?

I also liked the WiFi communication blanket on top of a hill/mountain/pyramid and Shelf Cloud Wall around Canada. Cool photos!

Wonderful--thanks for sharing!

Cave, Mt. Etna, or the hummingbird take it for me. I guess that I'm a sucker for symmetry. They're all great, though, except for the polar bears; I'm so tired of seeing polar bears all the time.
