Wow. So tell us how you really feel.

mobile.nytimes.com...

Every now and then we are going to have to do this: Step back from the daily onslaughts of insanity emanating from Donald Trump’s parasitic presidency and remind ourselves of the obscenity of it all, registering its magnitude in its full, devastating truth.

There is something insidious and corrosive about trying to evaluate the severity of every offense, trying to give each an individual grade on the scale of absurdity. Trump himself is the offense. Everything that springs from him, every person who supports him, every staffer who shields him, every legislator who defends him, is an offense. Every partisan who uses him — against all he or she has ever claimed to champion — to advance a political agenda and, in so doing, places party over country, is an offense.

We must remind ourselves that Trump’s very presence in the White House defiles it and the institution of the presidency. Rather than rising to the honor of the office, Trump has lowered the office with his whiny, fragile, vindictive pettiness.

The presidency has been hijacked.

I used to love Charles Blow, when he was covering the Trayvon Martin case and the subsequent rise of BLM. It was an important perspective but, as with all things political post-2012, it got crazy and co-opted. Charles became increasingly unglued. Like spewing spittle on CNN unglued.

But, with this piece, gotta say, I feel he's spot on. Trump is an abomination and a corrupt perversion of our democratic system. FFS, he's not even a real conservative. He's an oligarch, put in place by Putin.

Let's all just stop pretending.

Trump is an abomination and a corrupt perversion of our democratic system.

Trump is the same man that campaigned for President that he is right now.
He is not a perversion of our democratic system, he is the essence of it.

Our system elected him.

What we need to do is look at why that happened.

Maybe look at the weaknesses of all of the candidates that ran against him.
That means all of the Republican candidates and the one Democrat.

Don't blame Putin, if he did anything, he showed us how flawed Hillary was.

I read that and all I see is another partisan hack essentially doing this.

Which translates to nothing more than this.

Well the opposition can start writing emo poetry if all else fails.

Wow, you guys sound worse than a bible belt cult member harping on about Obama.

FFS, you sound like jack asses. No one else is convinced after almost 2 years of this. What the dork makes you double down?

We are going 8 years. Calling it now.

Yes, he is an elected official, and is part of the disease.

Can anyone break down for everyone how Trump is or would be any worse than any other as usual Ruling Establishment puppet, and do it without resorting to raw personal emotional impressions?

Be sure to be honest with yourself regarding Obama or Bush before drawing the comparisons.

Thanks!

The current president was elected because the alternative was perceived as worse by enough people for the electoral college system to return him to office. The DNC failed because it put up arrogant Hilary who tried to shame people in to voting for her, by demonising anyone who might have been considering not doing so.

I said on this forum and elsewhere at the time that the phrase "basket of deplorables" would haunt her and the DNC/liberal/SJW et al. The commentator in the OP has just attempted to rehash the same technique, but this time it comes from a place of bitter and pitiable defeat. So there is that phrase writ large, still haunting them, and shows that nothing has been learned from their defeat.

What fatuous nonsense coming from the same corrupt minds of those those who not only slander the highest office in the land, but also journalism.

That article and the OP...Well what little the OP added is about as contrary to this sites motto as one can get. It sure will be a long 4-8 years with that outlook. Maybe as was mentioned earlier...Take a long hard honest look at those who ran against him and figure out what was lacking. If you're not happy with the result maybe make some honest changes within the party you subscribe...But bringing this crap to ATS every hour makes us look like some dimwit chumps.

Sorry but you don't get "do-overs" when you play with the grown-ups. Hang on kiddies, it'll be over in 7 years or so -

are not most of his tweets that people don't like aimed at the media, illegal immigrants, or terrorists entering the country? maybe i'm wrong, but i am behind his ideas here and agree 100% with his attacking the media. i no longer consider the late night talk shows commedey but rather bash trump hour. no matter what we get out of trump im sure its still gonna be less evil than having clintons running the show again.
