Mass Grave Of Dozens Of Tortured Black Men Found In Deceased KKK Leaders Estate

“A Mass burial site of many dozens of black men, who had been subjected to brutal torture and [then] murdered, has been found,” Cartwright said. “In many cases, body parts are missing; most victims had been shot in the head.”

Cartright said that the mass grave was uncovered when the current owner of the property was making extensive renovations to the house and needed to dig up the foundations. “The current occupier was excavating the southern end of the property when he came across some leg bones,” Said Cartwright. “He notified local law enforcement who then called in the FBI once they realized the extent of the number of victims.” Authorities state it’s still very early in the recovery and identification process, but they estimate the grave to be at least 50 years old and contain upwards of 10 bodies.

Eldon Lee Edwards died in 1960. He was charged with involvement in the abduction, torture and murder of three black men in 1944, but he was never convicted.

Time-line from the story appears to be from the mid-40's at first accusations. Wonder if he can be traced back to the National Socialist of the time before the war.

Probably not trespassers. Back in the day the KKK used to just wait until you were walking alone and they'd snatch you up.

And thay would be it. No body would be found, no one would be arrested. It seems they found some of the bodies.

Given racial tensions in the US right now I worry how this will affect some people.
These men died over 70 years ago but I have a feeling some will react as if this happened yesterday.

I agree the KKK should be put out of business for good, something way overdue actually.

Eta:I missed the one line about missing body parts. This still does not amount to dozens though. Going by the headline I thought I was going to read about finding 24 or more victims. We really don't need any distortions in titles about things this bad.

I get that point. I just thought from the thread title and attached article that this would be a little different thread, until I got to your closing remarks, then I was put off by the thread.
