Trump's wall is right. Turkey is doing a great job keeping Syrian illegals out.

Syria is ravaged by war. Living standard has fallen miserably. Turkey in the north is relatively well off. Syrian refugees try to enter Turkey as illegal immigrants. Turkey isn't having it. Turkey puts up wall along the Turkey Syria border and orders its border guards to shoot dead Syrian illegals. The latter is too far for Americans taste, but the wall is certainly very useful. Trump is right. The wall works. It works along the Israel Palestine border. It works along the Turkey Syria border. It sure has heck will work along the America Mexico border.

Even a fence does an amazing job reducing illegal crossings.

We have got a sea between us and Europe and they still manage to sneak in..
People will always find a way, the best deterrent (which is harsh) the threat of a bullet into the head.. that's what keeps them out of Turkey.. not the wall.

True. Even a homeless person would not risk death.

Then why hasn't the already almost 2,000 mile long wall that's already there worked?

The 1,954-mile (3,145 km) border between the United States and Mexico traverses a variety of terrains, including urban areas and deserts.

Is adding a little more to that going to magically make it more effective? Or is it the idea that's flawed?

It's a fence. A wall is far more potent. Also, Turkish border guards are far more strict. They beat people up into bloody pulps, not like US border guards who care for illegal immigrants and give them food and water and shelter before releasing them back. That's why there are no illegal immigrants in Turkey whereas there are lots of illegal immigrants in America.

Actually, it depends on the laws and if the administration is willing to enforce them. With Dem's in the office more illegals can come in and stay, the laws are relaxed. Its the opposite when Repub's are in office.

When the dems get back in office they will relax or not enforce the laws. Its the cycle.

Wall, fence, just different words for the same thing in practice.

What little has been proposed about the wall is no different from what is already there. Is Trumps section going to be manned differently? Like the one in Syria?

UK border force has 3 ships on active duty at any one time, at best.
It's easy to get into the UK, blame criminals and dodgy fishermen wishing to make a few quid.

Your right that illegal entrant migrants do come in that way. But the majority of people who are here illegally in the UK are what are called over-stayers That means they entered the UK legally on a visa but have then stayed here after that. Most arrive on student visas then don't study and work on the black economy.

A wall would be a deterrent to those attempting to enter the US illegally. It wouldn't stop them but would certainly make most question trying to enter.

Much better that a silly wall, is to remove the incentive to cross the border.

That's what NAFTA was supposed to do. To put jobs into Mexico, hire the Mexicans right where they live, so they don't have to cross the border to do that same work in the US.

But, Trump wants to demolish NAFTA too, because he thinks only "Americans" should have any jobs. And he wants to "punish" American companies that put up factories in Mexico to give those Mexicans jobs, by adding a "tax" to the products made there. So, then he needs a "wall" to keep out the job seeking aliens, because Trump's policies are all about increasing the "polarization" of economies, which is the very thing that causes the migration of peoples.

Why is there no talk of a "wall" with Canada? Because there is no big economic polarity as you cross the US-Canada border. Without the few street signs, you wouldn't even know you've left the US and are now driving in Canada.

Where there's a will there's a way. Mexicans who are determined to get over the wall will find a way. Mexicans have already dug tunnels into the U.S.. Scaling the wall and using other means to get across the border will eventually give rise to other effective ways.

Turkey not only has a wall, but they have orders to shoot and kill! It's not the wall that keeps Syrians from breaching the wall, it's the possibility of being killed while doing it! The U.S. will never stoop to such an inhumane way of keeping illegals away from scaling the wall.

Turkey's wall is 560 miles long. The U.S. wall would be 1,900 miles long. Even with thermal Imaging Radar, getting personnel to the breach will take some time. By the time personnel arrive the illegal could be well gone and in hiding. Without orders to shoot and kill, the wall will not be as affective as many people think.

Of course The Wall would work, that's why Democrats are so against it. They need poor Hispanics to flood into the country so they can use them to complete their Revolution. The Pope knows Walls work, that's why he hasn't demolished the one surrounding the Vatican.

Mexico has high corruption. Mexico air force only 3 F-5 fighter jets. Even centuries from now Mexico will be in very bad shape compared to America. Mexicans will always be coming to America for a better life.

No they don't. But, they do have military grade "frozen ice lands" that destroy the hands and feet of any border crossing aliens.

People illegally coming across the southern border is down 74% over this same time last year. Great progress even without a wall.

Just beef up drones and hire more agents. That's all that is needed IMO.
