Who is the logical heir for the Democratic Party?

During the presidential election, Bernie Sanders was characterized by his rivals as a socialist. A few called him a communist. A socialist party member took political office in Seattle recently. Meanwhile, Jill Stein, of the Green party, did exceptionally well for a presidential candidate and a party that seemed marginalized into obscurity just 1 election cycle earlier. It is apparent that many people who vote democrat, have more in common with other political parties that better represent their interests.

At present, the media scandals and conflicts with the current administration are inflicting severe damage to the reputation of both leading parties on the left and right, now in power. The leadership of the Democratic Party itself, is being called into question following several failed local elections, including one where an act of violence on the part of the conservative was ignored or even praised by the community that elected them.

The time has come to ask, if there are logical heirs to the Democratic party. If there are existing parties qualified to take on the new conservative block, which includes elements of republican, tea party, alt-right radicals, religious fundamentalists, and economic libertarian & minarchist financial backers.

Do any parties come to mind that have enough grass roots stability or financial backing to make this a (relatively) quiet transition? And should there be opposition to such a transition, as the old party leaders cling to old ideas, at the expense of future generations being marginalized politically?

it will probably be that veteran rep from Hawaii. She has a bill introduced to help curb spying on Americans. She will probably try and use that as part of the platform of protecting American rights and such.
Representative Tulsi Gabbard introduces Bill to end warrant-less spying. page: 1

Well, if they were smart they would consider her. Im not endorsing her specifically, just offering my strategic theories and analysis. Although I sincerely support her bill to curb spying on Americans. If she stays away from the traditional attack on the second Amendment, I may even consider voting for her myself assuming she were in the run. Of course that all depends on who else is up for vote in 2024. Cuz I am riding the Trump train all the way into the next decade!

What good is having an Heir when their only message is "Hate white people, Hate Trump, etc etc.". The question should be, when will the Democratic Party come up with a coherent platform that doesn't eliminate half the country?

Probably around the same time the republicans do.

I think both Democrats and Republicans need to be dismantled. Both Democrats and Republicans (Including Trump) have damaged our country and its reputation to the world.

Its time for the era of Democrats and Republicans to end.

Well, since Nagini lost the last presidential election, they might want to stay away from the Dark Lord.

I am enjoying watching them squirm around too! Did you think your comment would rile me up? The only platform the Democratic party has at the moment is based on Fear and Hate!

I personally think they are going to push the GA candidate here...Ossoff...maybe not the next election, but one after. I can't stand the guy, but he relates to millenials and has the Jewish community locked.

And is the Republicans any better? As long as both are in power, the US will never move forward.

In fact maybe the only way for them to wake up and smell of the coffee is when the US suffered an economic collapse. From there, either they clean themselves up or fall and get replaced by better political parties.

Were we watching the same election?

Stein and Johnson set 3rd Parties back 10 years with the Sh!tshow they ran last year. Completely ruined their chances of getting the 5% needed for FEC funding. By design I think.

The Rs and Ds are a complete joke but they'll keep getting elected. Doesn't matter which, I just hope their name's aren't Clinton or Bush.

They should just run someone that appeals to the left. A socialist LGBT minority illegal immigrant. That would at least appeal to their base. More importantly as someone else pointed out, some real policy might help them as well. All the left leaning people I know are fed up with the DNC and how it's ran.

I'll vote for anyone who is for smaller government, lower taxes, more freedoms.

Everyone else can go suck it.

I keep forgetting that most of you were not around when the Real Democratic party died or was overthrown.
Truman was the last real Democrat. Kennedy was both good and bad, but Johnson, Lyndon Banes wrecked it beyond repair.
Ike won because he was Ike, not because he was a Republican, the same goes for Stevenson, he lost because he was Stevenson. Twice. The 60s were full of turmoil and Johnson fired the party killing shot. ( In more ways than one.)

I know hundreds of people today who are still registered Democrats but have voted the straight Republican ticket for decades.

If you don't think I wouldn't like to see half the Republicans in Congress tossed out on their sorry asses, you are badly mistaken! Doesn't mean I will ever agree with you politically, but I sure as hell do not blindly follow a political party as if it is a religion! Follow the Constitution or get the hell out!
