Why can't we have a truly Representative government on this planet?
No mater what form of government we use, in reality it will always
be a group of humans (men most likely) making up rules (laws) for everyone else.
Let's not kind ourselves we the people do not play a true role in the
decisions of our governments. Democratic, republic, Communism, socialism,
it doesn't mater. THEY will always be making the rules for US.
I'm tired of this form of society. I'm tired of not having a real voice.

More votes. The majority of us should call for more voting power.
Let us vote on whether or not we want insurance companies involved
in healthcare. Let us vote on the items of each years government spending bills.
After all it's our money being used to fund all the bs that the government
spends on. It's our money.

My city should be having a vote on when , how and which streets get repaired.
We should be voting on how our water is cleaned. How our food is treated.
We should be voting on how much our representatives get paid. It's our money.

They give us a few votes but nothing truly meaningful to the everyday lives of the people.
Who decided what WE are allowed to vote on?

It is difficult to be happy in a world that feels like it is controlled by others.
Why should I pay taxes if my money isn't being used to improve anything I want it to improve?
Why do any of us do this? Are we really scared to lose what little we have?
Do humans really value comfort over freedom ? It's our money guys, we are cowards that let
governments steal from us.

The vast majority of people would simply vote for their own self interest.

Therefore, the longest streets would get voted to be repaved and the little short streets would never get done.

And ... you admitted this in your OP.

Why should I pay taxes if my money isn't being used to improve anything I want it to improve?

That is the number one issue right there!

The number two issue is that the vast majority of people would have no idea. From the OP

We should be voting on how our water is cleaned. How our food is treated.

The vast majority would have no idea at all how water is treated or how food is treated. People are really lazy, too lazy to want to do any study to obtain the answers they would need to obtain before they could make a meaningful vote.

Well said.
And everyone would want to live on the longest streets...and when too many wanted to live there, the long street people would start fighting to keep new people from moving in.

People with houses on the long streets would have more value to their homes than people on the short streets with the exact same home.

The short street people would resent this...and would band together to start attacking the long street people.
The long street people...having more money, would be able to afford more weapons...and would kill more short street people.

Isn't this what seems to get done now anyway? In my city the rich areas get fixed the poor ones do not,
yet the poor pay taxes.

I would like a completely open tax system. Meaning every penny i give in taxes will go to pay for
the things I specifically tell them to go to.So me and my neighbors pay to get our road and the roads we drive the most
fix and everyone else does the same. I decide if my money goes to funding bullets for the wars or funding healthcare for the poor. At least then if something I liked failed due to lack of funding I couldn't bitch to much
because obviously no one else cared.

We should have had a vote on bailing out the banks . We should have a vote on where we build military bases
and where we send troops . We should have votes on who we trade with. those are decisions that affect us all and
we just let a bunch of strangers make them for us.

It's exactly the reason leaders are elected by the electoral college...and not the popular vote.
Otherwise, several major population areas would decide where all the nation's money was spent and what laws were made.

Nice if you live in one of those areas...not so nice if you don't.

What if they are only like this because it's been done for them without their input since they were born?
What if allowing a human to be a real part in the make up of their cities would lead to more informed
populations?

You need to go further into human nature to get those answers.

People like to think of our species as the top of the food chain.

Most people just want to have peace and raise their children.

Look at your own society. Right now it is fractured. Right vs Left with most people sick and tired of both extremes.

Think of how the SJWs would vote on any given issue.

It is OK for the Hollywood Stars to bleat about this and that but ... if a pothole forms in front of THEIR property ... and how dare the pothole do this ... they would (and do) raise hell about it.

We are not a species that can live like you want and quite frankly, the OP has said it all already. He wants his money spent on whatever he feels is justified.

You need to go deeper to find the real problems. The problems are species driven.

We can have awhat ever we want but we must first take our country back from those who have taken it from us.

Only in theory is the govt 'of the people, by the people." at moment we have "govt by rich and powerfull for the rich and powerfull.'

The shorter narrower streets would be much cheaper and people drive on a lot of streets they don't live on. Don't know about you but I want pretty much every street in My city paved smooth and looking nice.

Oh but yeah i kinda agree with some of the stuff in the op. We cowardly lions let the bullies take our lunch money
