Not sure if this should go in this thread :

www.abovetopsecret.com...

If so, please move - ta!

OK, so whilst logged out and browsing ATS on my iPhone, I've been getting a pop up from "w0e" something or other telling me I've chance to win an iPhone 7. Ahem. Now, normally, I'd just ignore this garbage but this pop up has no way of being closed. I can see the ATS site beneath the pop up but inaccessible. If I close the browser down, the pop up remains.

To clear it, I have to power the phone off. I have pop ups blocked in Chrome.

Anyone else seeing this? Any suggestions?

Cheers.

Usually attributed to showing interest in a "you have won " email.

clear your cache as a starter. It is not ATS.

You can also double click out

Go to settings and clear the browser history
It will delete the blocked lockout pop up

It worked for me once or twice

Get a good VPN and use Firefox

Thanks, cleared the cache and wotnot - I'll see what happens. It just seemed a little odd to me that it only appeared when on ATS...

ONLY ATS . No other site does this to me. It also makes me wonder how many people leave never to return because they figure this site is " buggy " ? Is this one ad worth that much ?

Send a message to admin/owners

They are approachable ... regardless of perceived negatives ...

ATS sucks as far as the advertising on here. I used to love coming on here but am contemplating leaving if they can't get a handle on it. I posted something about this awhile ago and ATS deleted it, nice censorship ATS.

My annoyance threshold is pretty high. I just take it as a word from the universe to sign out and go pour myself another mint julip. By the time I drink half of it, the ad is gone when I sign back in.

Yeah...its not ATS...otherwise all of us would get the same thing...and we dont...many get nothing. If on mobile...why not go to say NEW or TOP or RECENT Forum pages, pick one, stay logged in, bookmark it and ask for DESKTOP VIEW on mobile?*

PS You can block basic popups in your settings for Internet on your devices...and that allows required ads here to not be blocked per Ts and Cs

If every one had the same IP, cookies and location, you would have a point Mysterioustranger. Sites hand out ad's based on many different factors. I doubt some one living in Canada will get ad's for things sold only in Japan!

Mysterioustranger, every time some one complains about an ad, you are always here stating it is the person's computer and they must have been looking at porn and have a computer virus or somesuch. Why not ask any web dev about how ad's are targeted. Even if he had a virus and looked at all the porn ever created...why would he only get that ad on ATS?

That's your problem right there. I NEVER browse ATS while not logged in anymore, it is the most miserable experience with pop up ad's etc both on laptop or phone. Honestly, I often wonder how many people don't sign up because of the excessive adverts. Perhaps there should be a disclaimer on the front page saying 'sign up and the advert bombardment will be reduced significantly'

I just got that message when I clicked on one of the new threads. Has happened to me twice in as many weeks. I had to close out of it because it wouldn't let me go back a page.
I'll clear my cache as you all suggest. Hopefully that will fix it!

Right, this appears to be exactly right. I've just had the damned thing twice - cache, cookies et al all cleared - while logged out.

Seems being logged in is the answer.

Cheers

Sorry to bump this thread but this pop up is getting even more intrusive - I had it three times in under 10 seconds trying to reach the logon page to alleviate it.

Whats the best way of highlighting this to the mods?

Eta: I am now seeing it even when logged on!
Thanks.

In the drop down menu there is a complain button;
press it and follow the prompts.

I have an android phone., i always log in, and I KEEP my phone cleaned .
The ad itself is the problem. The ad is exclusive to ATS. The ad is a highjacker.

As for messaging Springer ; he knows. You don't admin a place like this and be ignorant of such things. It's a choice.

I posted in this thread only to let them know it's noticeable and getting worse.
