I didn't know where to put this ... it has War on Terror
elements, Political elements, Legal elements ....

It was just too funny to pass up. Michael Moore is
getting sued by the fellow who filmed UBL. Moore
used the footage of UBL in his mockumentary.
Now the fellow who filmed UBL is upset with Moore.
I'm pretty sure this isn't the first person to be
upset with Moore and F911. Didn't one of the
families of the dead serviceman get upset when
Moore used film footage of the coffin in F911?

Anyways .. I found this to be a huge laugh -
(as Michael Moore is ... just a huge laugh)
Mikey Moore taking, and yet not compensating.
Guess he was in too big of a hurry to get the
false story out to pay the guy properly.
Tsk tsk on him!

Bin Laden’s film maker sues Michael Moore
Nick Fielding

A FORMER close associate of Osama Bin Laden is to sue the film-maker Michael Moore for using his footage of the Al-Qaeda chief in the documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

Deraz has started legal action in Egypt and America to seek compensation for use of his footage in Fahrenheit 9/11, the biggest-grossing documentary in cinema history.

Deraz claims he had not signed a distribution agreement with Moore or anyone else. “I was the only cameraman with the Arabs. All of those shots of Bin Laden talking in the cave, talking into his walkie-talkie, they were all my work.

“I was there from 1986-89 and was in contact with Bin Laden on many occasions. I saw him in Peshawar in Pakistan and in Jalalabad in Afghanistan. The film clips in Fahrenheit 9/11 — five of them — were mostly shot in March and April 1989.

“I was wounded twice and on one of those occasions Bin Laden arranged for me to be taken to hospital in his vehicle. These are the only film clips ever taken that show Bin Laden on the battlefield.”

He said: “Now I find that Mr Moore’s film is being distributed in America and in other countries and I have received nothing.”

He filed a petition with the Egyptian public attorney seeking his intellectual property rights and asking for the film to be confiscated until the financial issues are settled. He says the public attorney confirmed his rights after hearing from witnesses and experts.

If anyone response with a real post then this site will really be going downhill. Is this guy goinna sue CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, and anyone else who used the film on tv to bump ratings? Also, MM is a laugh, he makes movies, yet people always compare him to AC, even though AC is serious about nuking canada and converting everyone in the middle east and killing the ones who don't while MM makes money off of good film making.(may not always be true but it is entertaining, what a movie should be)

As much as I hate Michael Moore, his use of this footage probably falls under the fair use doctrine and is usable.

I don't know if the guy has legal recourse or not.
There are international laws involved that we don't
know about ... I just think it's a hoooooooot that
MM is getting sued by one of his international buddies
who was buddies with UBL.

Remember the old 'six degrees of seperation'???
Looks like MM has only one degree of seperation
between him and UBL. That's less than 'W' has!

MM is closer to UBL than 'W'?? waaaa!

No, they the same closeness. No, W still closer, he's met with OBL. He has been freinds with the Bin Laden family for decades, has met with Taliban, so one would imagine after 20 years of meeting with Bin Ladens/Taliban that Bush and OBL eventually met. Also, was the video trademarked like a show or movie?

Yeah, right. The Bin Ladins exiles UBL decades ago.
So keep 'imagining' this meeting all you like. I highly doubt
it ever happened. The thought makes for good Moore-ish
entertainment though.

Reference the 'trademarking'. Dunno. Like I said, there
are international laws applicable here. But the case is
being picked up by the international courts, so there
might be some merit to it. FUNNY!!
