See now you're getting it. You're not any more surprised that he lied about this than I am.

Except he didn't say he had tapes... ultimately it comes back to that.

Fortunately Trump had the leadership skills required to make the call to fire his cowardly a**.

Leadership skill which is setting him ever closer to impeachment. The United States government is not a New Jersey casino.

Again, what part of "implies" are you having trouble with?

He said Comey better hope there are no tapes... Not sure where he said or implied he could prove it if Comey lied... can you post that?

What part of the word "implied" are you having trouble with?

The part where you are foisting your opinion of what was in your President's mind as a fact.

First there is in fact video and audio of everything that happens inside the Oval Office, and in the Office and hall outside of it. So unless this meeting happened in the "Servant's Dinning Hall" It was recorded (I'm more then certain that recordings that happen in the Oval Office can only be watched at the White House, and can not leave the building. Though I'm not sure what the restrictions are with White House recordings taken from other parts of the building)

These recordings can not be used in a manner that would make Congress or the Media happen since you have to be cleared at the White House in order to watch them.

It was a good maneuver though, since it not only forced Comey to state the truth, but it may also be why Comey was quick to also release all that info of his actions from the prior Administration.

***VERY IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE***

I'm not going to state how I learned of this, but I will say that I learned it from a very good source in a very unclassified way. Nothing I just said was learned while under an NDA, nor have I stated anything that violates US codes or Laws.

So essentially: I know stuff, not saying how, but yeah.

Deal with it.

That is it, right?

Cool beans and thanks.

The nice thing about your dream is that it adds to the fun when it doesn't happen...and it's all recorded for giggles later.

Awwww poor wittle defenseless 6'7" FBI Director threatened by the big bad President. If you believe that you are so in the bag that it's a waste of time to discuss it.

You mean... the boss who could fire him? I guess you have never had a proper job.

So by your theory that Comey would not be independent and honorable because he was worried about getting fired that now finally explains why he didn't recommend that Hillary be indicted. Hmm

A person who has no confidence in their own abilities and is a sniveling coward reacts as you suggest. If you are ok with that cowardly behavior then you have set your personal bar pretty low.

No!

The important and far from fun thing is that there is an agenda being propagated by certain people that uses absolutely any slightly negative personality flaw as a reason for impeachment.
Think about that.

You're welcome?

The point is that if there was no recordings, but Trump said there were, then Comey (being that he's been around DC longer would have known that there weren't any) could have lied to protect himself and his concerns (the events of the prior Administration)

Since these recordings do exist, Comey has to ask himself, "Would Trump be ballsy enough to release them?" Without me saying anything, and just looking at Comey's statement while in front of Congress, I would say yes he knows that recordings do exist, and that they could have been used against him.

That's more of my point, than me just saying that there are recordings.

I hope that comes across better.

Impeachment, not that old stupid ploy again. NEVER going to happen. Reelection is the more likely path. Poor D's they don't even see the train.

There is an absolute disconnect between reality and the polarised opinions that can be seen in this thread.

To any lurkers out there who may not actually live in the US I can say categorically that the average American (I do speak to quite a few) is not actually so polarised and is generally either judging these events on their merits or...eating a donut.

It was a implied threat to provoke a defensive response from Comey ....and he did.
It was nothing more than a ruse, and you guys fell for it just like Comey

It's not because he's on the Right. It's because he's in a position of Power. The Power Position and his lying is being done against the people who he is ultimately responsible to.

The problem is he didn't lie so this has all been false argument to begin with that got so many frothing at the mouth. Can you actually link where Trump said "I have tapes...". Can you actually link anything where Trump actually said "I had our conversations taped..."

But Trump said that he did not tape their conversation and does not have in his possession any such tapes, so where is the lie in all this?

I am always against those who say: this is it but I can't say why. My whole point came from that angle.

Yes let's punish the free press that publishes anything unflattering to the dear leader.
We cannot have that.
