A Global Hawk went down in Inyo Forrest roughly 200 miles north of Edwards. Based on local pics it appears to impacted half way up a mountain side. no word as to the cause

With a wingspan of more than 130 feet, roughly the same as a 737 airliner, the RQ-4 is the the Air Force's largest drone.
Never realized how big they were.

Dammit. I'm 200 miles away.

Now that is one hell of a drone.
Those things are massive.
Makes the stuff I use for work look like toys!

It looks pretty remote Zaph. It would be a trek to get to the site and the weather in that region is known for its mildness

And?
I'll risk a heart attack for a chunk of Global Hawk. I've got a piece of F-22, and SpaceShip One. Sooner or later I'll go get more pieces of different things.

Well they are notoriously sloppy with clean up so no doubt parts will remain but looking at the picture you are going to need some serious cardio and serious mountaineering skills LOL

I'm sure they'll crash another soon enough in a less remote area.

I would totally buy whatever Piece of F-22 you could part with. Would go great with the autographed photos of the F-22 the pilots signed for my son from last years Air Fest.

Go get that Global Hawk Zap! And bring a rifle in case big foot shows up.

It's mostly just small pieces we found at a crash site. I have one larger piece, but I still have to get confirmation of what part of the aircraft it was from.

Now i know what was burning north of me.
I live about 40 miles south of lone pine. and can see the east side of the sierras all the way to mount Whitney.

I would not want to even try to hike into the area at this time as the temperature today where i live outside china lake was 111 degrees in the shade.

I wonder if it was the one that was flying over Plymouth a few days ago.

I have the rear fin of a Sidewinder complete with rolleron that I might be looking to trade.

Sweet. There are a couple that I'm looking to get to next year after we stop driving. If I find something interesting, then I might be willing to talk deal there.

Ooh. That's a cool one. What are you hoping to get for that?

A chunk of F-22.

They're small chunks. One is about the size of a soda can, but doesn't look like it's off an F-22. We should get positive ID on where it's from soon.
