This is very disappointing. Doesn't emptying the swamp have something to do with not allowing the corporations to run our country. I'm disgusted but not surprised. Meet the new boss . . .

It DOES...

But YOUR idea of the SWAMP and MY idea of the SWAP aren't what a Trump fanatic's idea is..

Trump fan: "Swamp are the RINOs in congress!"

Non-Trump fan: "Swamp is big money & cronyism!"

SO...this is why we have Tillerson, DeVoss...

Strange the NYT did not include a copy of the draft and a draft is not a final product. Call me strange, but I like to read the actual documents before forming an opinion out of thin air. Odd if they have the document, it's not in the article in the NYT's infamous for getting things wrong and making crap up.

Same with the healthcare legislation. Nobody has seen it yet, but they have opinions?

The swamp is still very smelly and the stink is coming from both sides of the aisle.

How can you discuss this without context? You can't.

More details from same source with additional links:

Here's what's to expect out of the cooled down executive order.

The group wants to extend overseas patents, which would give drugmakers longer periods of exclusivity before generic drugs come to the market. It also wants to promote competition in the US through changes to the regulatory system and reimbursements for medications.

The group has chatted about value-based pricing, a concept in which prescriptions are paid for based on how well they work, rather than on a per-pill basis.

The group considered setting up Treasury bonds to pay for expensive treatments that have led to only the sickest patients receiving treatment because of the high cost in recent years.

Some of the text used in the working group's documents has been lifted from papers written by the drug industry's lobby the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (or PhRMA).

Other documents from the working group discuss being more lenient on clinical trials, which the FDA uses the data from to vet experimental drugs. Noticeably absent: any references to allowing Medicare negotiate drug prices. And according to KHN, the policies wouldn't ease the cost of prescription drugs, and might even increase them. Politico reports that the White House is pushing to release the executive order, though an exact timeline hasn't been reported.

Aside from who the President is, I just feel big Pharma garners more power and yields it to favor itself. I think Trump's heart was in the right place but the reality of trying to reshape such an entity for the betterment of common folk, it all seems futile.
I suspect nothing revolutionary will occur because the giant is just too big to keep on a leash. I hope I am wrong and some healthy middle ground is achieved...we shall see...

How did he sell us out by raising export prices and lowering our prices?

You really need to separate your emotions from your decision making process.

All of these stupid liberal news opinion pieces appeal to readers emotions.

This is done to manipulate the reader. It is done by children trying to manipulate their parents, lazy people and abusive spouses, to name a few.

You haven't earned the right to label anyone if you haven't graduated past the point in life where you can't even identify when someone is manipulating you with emotions.

It is kind of sad to see people not only be manipulated, but to actually be influenced enough turn on others that could actually be friends and communicate about some cool sh*t on here.

It is a toxic behavior.

During Obama's 8 YEARS this kind of reporting was normal, supported and standard among the SAME people who now conveniently USE it to cast DOUBT.

It was FINE for ya'll under Obama.

Under Trump? NOPE.

What a loveley double standard!

That is how these things are done..

They leak a copy.. see what makes waves. Then change the policy accordingly.. hopefully..

So usually you can expect most to be leaked a little ahead of time.

I take Tecfidera which wholesale price averages 50K a year.

I wonder how I am going to be affected by this coming EO. I just know someone is making a mint off this medication alone.

I agree. The New York Times (original source) is so proud to state "The draft, which The New York Times obtained on Tuesday, is light on specifics but clear on philosophy; The draft executive order, obtained from an official with knowledge of the proposals," but why not present the draft and allow the reader to decide what it means??

No that is not possible. They need the readers to simply parrot a broken record of anti-Trump bias, possibly in an effort to fuel more extremist leftist terrorist attacks against our representatives and the administration.

I will keep my paycheck.

A lot of excuses for Trump. I actually hope your excuses are right but I doubt it.

Trump is and has always been a corporate profit defender and is only a FAKE populist

Drug prices in the Trump era are measurable. We will know if his policy is an improvement over the status quo by at least two measures:

- Are drug prices higher or lower?
- Are greater numbers of people able to obtain critical medications?
