It's like a bad dream that never ends. I get that the political climate of late has been volatile to say the least. I'm just curious how much this loss hurts the dems?

The Dems find out AGAIN that a message of "We're not Trump" only resonates in their echo chamber. Everything they are doing, aided by the main stream media, has not made even a dent in Trump's base, in fact it has probably alienated moderates. Trump won Georgia district 6 by 1.5% in November, Handel won by 3.8%. If it was a referendum on Trump, as the Democrats claimed, then Trump's base grew in the district.

Democrats proved once again that they have no message, they waste money and they are supported by far left activists - with money pouring in and wasted from California and New York. These two centres of cultural decay seem to think they can splash cash all over the country to infest it with their ideologies.

the amount of money that was spent on this shows that despite all the wealth and power, the people still have a voice, and they are sick to death of the liberal mindset. If the GOP could come up with some juicy new blood, who actually cared about getting things done, it could be something historical.

Well, now, it all depends on expectations, doesn't it?

This was a hard red district. A Democrat nearly won without even getting to a runoff, and then only lost by a couple percentage points??

Geez. Not too shabby. And not good news at all for Republicans. Republicans in purple districts can look at that point swing and the passion behind it, as well as the odds against Ossoff to begin with, and they can wonder whether or not they will survive.

What you see as a simple win/loss I see as an indication that what should have been an easy win for Republicans turned into a nail-biter, like it was a normal swing district.

It ain't the individual battles, friends, it's the big picture. Independents are swinging left in greater numbers, and the left in general is realizing they need to get off their butts and vote.

Meanwhile, approval for Trump remains historically low, and enthusiasm on the right is waning, except among the hardcore Trump supporters.

Now, Republicans are generally never going to convert to being Democrats. They will fall in line for local races. But if their enthusiasm wanes, if they get less folks to the polls...

Sure the Dems wanted their "Mighty Ducks" "Rocky" Disney ending where the total underdog pulls out an epic win against massive odds. Of course they are disappointed that photo-finish didn't happen. But not winning this seat isn't the entire story, now is it?

The tide is turning, friends. And that is a "win."

And here is where Russia seems to be going. They do not need to hack voting machines. The reports are that they have been accessing voter data bases. If they hack into "purple" districts and drop reliable "blue" voters here and there, they can turn purple districts red on election day. Five or six voters who apparently "forgot to re-register" at a polling place would not attract much attention. If that happened at every polling place in a battleground state....

All that money and Ossoff got the same vote total as the Dem candidate in November.

Or it could just be that far left propaganda and nonsense is not working, and Trump just keeps on #winning despite the radical lefts' tactics.

But yeah - Russia - hardly surprising you would go there

Whistle in the dark all you like. This amazing "winning" feeling is temporary. It is hubris to think otherwise, especially since Trump's approval rating is so far down in the dump.

The anger over what happened with Russia hasn't even really kicked in with a lot of Dems yet - just wait... The Right will have their turn as the Black Knight soon enough...

Winning by a narrow margin in what shouldn't have even been a contest isn't something to crow about.

But please, do go on thinking that way. It means you haven't the foresight to understand that what looks like Democratics simply receding in defeat is really the precursor to a tsunami.

oh polls..

Are they like the ones that had Hillary 10 pints ahead?

The anger over Russia has very much kicked in - it's anger at the propagandists in the media and far left politicians.

If Dems are relying on an anti-Trump sentiment , they continue to lose. Trump's base is in tact, despite the 24/7 media hit jobs on him.

And this District? Look at the bigger picture.

Yes, Trump barely squeaked by Hillary Clinton there, but most other Republican candidates — presidential and House — have done much better.

Tom Price, who represented the district in Congress until he resigned to become Trump’s secretary of health and human services, carried it by 23 percentage points in 2016.

Mitt Romney beat Barack Obama there by the same margin in 2012.

We know from past House elections that our best bet for measuring the political lean of a district is a weighted average 2 of the last two presidential elections, with the most recent election weighted a bit more.

By this weighted average, Georgia 6 is about 9.5 percentage points more Republican than the nation as a whole. (That is, if there were a tie in the national popular vote, a Republican would be expected to win Georgia 6 by 9.5 points.)

[url=https://www.google.com/amp/s/fivethirtyeight.com/features/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-georgia-6-special-election/amp/]Fivethirtyeight[/ url]

And...here's why Republican strategists are feeling a bit worried this morning...

According to this measure, 47 Republican-held House seats are more Democratic-leaning than Georgia 6 is.

Democrats need to pick up only 24 seats to win back the House, so even though this is the type of seat that Democrats probably want to be competitive in, taking Georgia 6 is not a necessity for taking back the House.

Lol...spin it friend, spin it! CNN may be looking for some new analysts soon and I'm sure you're creative writing here will look good on a lib resume. BTW...dems were CONVINCED ossof was a shoe in or they wouldn't have made the politically HUGE mistake of calling it a referendum on POTUS and his policies (now they have to live with that analysis). Almost like a missed coronation last November.

I do give you credit for not hiding out like the rest...

Yes. I know.

Go on. Read what I posted from Nate Silver above to UKTruth. Argue with him - dismiss him as "cute" if you will. Please.

The less worried y'all are, the easier it will be...
