I do not support higher taxes to pay for poor people's healthcare as a form of social welfare. I would support a food bank approach to medicines for the poor. Poor people can go to a food bank to get food they can't afford. Likewise, poor people can go to a medicine bank to get medicine they can't afford. There are plenty of ultra rich like Soros, Buffet, Bill Gates who claim to be Democrats and support socialism. Let them pay for these banks. But don't put the burden on the rest of society as taxes. We have 1 person 1 vote. Everyone is treated equally. The rich and the middle class shouldn't be forced to foot the bill for the poor.

I have a better solution, a literal solution.

Mix hemp oil, molasses, baking soda, colloidal silver, turmeric and ground up vegans and drink daily/apply topically.

I read right here on this very site that any/all of those things will keep you from getting sick or dropping dead.

Your tax dollars reimburse unpaid hospital bills, most notably emergency room visits. Why not stop doing that and put the money into free healthcare for poor people? Make hospitals compete for insured patients.

These ultra rich want high taxes on the middle class to pay for welfare of the poor. How much tax? 50%? 90%? They have tens of billions. They talk the talk. Let's see if they walk the walk. Donate their money and set up medicine banks for the poor.

If healthcare were universal then you'd be paying for your own coverage with your taxes, not anyone else's. Universal healthcare is a much cheaper solution than the ponzi scheme we call insurance.

That is both the funniest and the most dishonest thing I have read all day. Congratulations!!!

WAIT!!!

Can't we just PRAY and have God heal us? We could ENLIST all the churches to DEDICATE 15 min each service to "praying for health in America".

That way, we'd never NEED healthcare!

That's pretty CHEAP and inexpensive, right? And it's supposed to work...?

i work in the healthcare industry in NYC.

poor people, and even the homeless, still have plenty of access to healthcare. they may not have a really flashy primary care to go to, but places like urgent care centers and hospitals are there for them whenever they need help.

with respects to the OP, two things:

1. are you actually from canada? if so, aren't you already paying higher taxes than you would be due to your universal healthcare policies?

2. in response to:

There are plenty of ultra rich like Soros, Buffet, Bill Gates who claim to be Democrats and support socialism. Let them pay for these banks.

this doesn't seem intellectually fair (that's also not how socialism works). why should they have to foot the bill and not anyone else? there's a good reason why neither of them would ever agree to that, and it doesn't have anything to do with greed.

Yes in Canada tax is ridiculous. Healthcare is mismanaged. Don't even bother going to the hospital unless there is an emergency. Wait times could be 6 hours or more. Even USSR's heathcare was better than that.

Because people regularly have left over chemotherapy drugs they can donate. Or anti-retrovirals. Or any other life dependent drug.

Then there's the other logistics you have to think about. For example, who is checking to make sure the drugs being donated are actually what they're claimed to be? Not to mention there's no way to know if the drug is expired. Or been tampered with. There's a reason pharmacies don't accept drugs to be returned once they've left the pharmacy.

then, with all due respect, it looks like america's privatized health care system is more beneficial and preferred over your universal healthcare system.

In South Africa everyone is covered with basic public healthcare while the rich pay for better private healthcare with their own money. It's like public schools and private schools. Poor and middle class go to public schools. Rich go to private schools.

My suggestion is no taxes for health coverage. The ultra rich are more than able to provide medicines to the poorest people through medicine banks. When you are that rich, tens of billions, you can afford to donate millions a year for medicines of the poor who can't afford them.

what would the cost per month be? Or would we have to vote it in, to find out?
(pardon me for being obtuse, but I did that once, and it didn't work our well for me)

that is the cure for chemtrails. If you want to cure "everything", you need to add iodine. (skip the vegans, they make it way to pasty and sour)

just because you can afford to donate "millions a year" doesn't mean you must, or that you should.

not paying taxes for healthcare treatment? this sounds like a nightmare. this would mean:

- doctors won't get paid

- people will be able to dodge their bills with greater success

- emergency room visits will essentially be on the hospital's dime

^^^these are just some of the potential issues with not collecting any taxes for healthcare. do you expect bill gates to fund this kind of system and pay doctors their salaries as well?

Maybe fix the problem of a c scan costing 3k dollars.
And how about fixing an ambulance ride costing 1.5k.

Fix those type of problems and then worry about paying for medical care.
