I knew it would happen, now we see it in full effect. Total prejudice against people who practice Islam.

The ones making these kinds of threads never have anything good to say about Muslims, they only point out the bad things that are supposedly done in the name of their religion by a small minority of radicals.

Hope you guys are happy following in the footsteps of the likes of Hitler. Hitler hated Jews, you guys hate Muslims.

They're really putting in a lot of work with their propaganda, it seems to be working.

You are quite right, the demise of the USSR left the arms manufacturers with a dilemma- no credible enemy, no need for massive expenditure on weapons, there goes their business model.

Look a little at how it was in countries like Afghanistan before the USA enticed the USSR in to conflict in Afghanistan. It was quite modern, peaceful, women had a high level of independence and education. The US influence in Iran has been similarly toxic. However, most terrorism is funded through Saudi Arabia, who are close allies with the US.
Libya was a peaceful and progressive state, with some socialist tendencies- the country kept ownership of its oil supplies and used the profits to better its people.
Radical Islam is a monster that has been germinated from small seeds and continually nourished by deliberate actions on the part of the US deep state. Stop complaining and go deal with the problem at it source.

it makes one wonder, what are children going to be reading in their history books in 100 years....
America the saint and savior.
it's too bad the ones whose homes are getting bombed won't be the ones writing history...

I wonder which helpless country is next on the list....
it's always Muslims... if the NK ordeal doesn't pan out, we might just go back off Asia and focus on the ME for a few more presidencies. another cache of weapons were recently sold + jets fighters to Qatar a week ago...
the Trump administration needs the ME more than Asia.

During a one month period, 1.3 billion Moslems have killed about 1400 people.

During a one month period in the US, about 1,333 people are killed (based on 2015 figures).

So his point seems to be that we here in the US are almost 4 times as violent (based on the US population of 315 million).

Freedom of Speech at it's finest... or not. Anyways, it's fortunate for you that you have a safe place online to express your happy thoughts, I mean it's not like you can do so in reality because somethings are better left unsaid.

Just picture you saying that over a lunch break with colleagues or some acquaintances..

And if you're implying that personal harm could come to me in public over my views or personal beliefs....Well I say bring it on. I'm a big boy and more than capable of handling what ever comes my way....

I'll just leave this here for all the religious nut jobs out there..

The key question, then, is why religious people are generally less intelligent. And the authors did not shy away from the answer, offering three compelling explanations:

(1) Intelligent people are generally more analytical and data-driven; formal religions are the antithesis: they are empirically fluffy and their claims are often in direct contradiction with scientific evidence, unless they are interpreted metaphorically – but maybe intelligent people are not that keen on metaphor. Another way of putting it is that people with a high IQ are more likely to have faith in science, which isn’t religion’s best friends (yes, yes, I do know about Einstein’s quotes).

(2) Intelligent people are less likely to conform, and, in most societies, religiosity is closer to the norm than atheism is. Although this interpretation is based on extrapolation, it still makes sense: first, smarter people tend to be less gullible; second, in most societies religious people outnumber atheists and agnostics - though global levels of religiosity have been declining, and there is substantial cultural variability in religiosity levels.

(3) Intelligence and religiosity are “functionally equivalent”, which means that they fulfil the same psychological role. Although this intriguing argument contradicts points 1 and 2, it deserves serious consideration. Humans will always crave meaning. Religion – like science and logical reasoning – provides them with a comprehensive framework or system to make meaningful interpretations of the world. At times, religion and science are in conflict; but they can also act in concert, complementing each other to answer non-falsifiable and falsifiable questions, respectively. The authors conclude that some people satisfy their desire to find meaning via religion, whereas others do so via logical, analytical, or scientific reasoning – and IQ predicts whether you are in the former or latter group.

It happens now and then, those whom do not know you from adam tell you they know you have never read this or that...yada, yada.....blurp...theres no way you can read all 600 pages.....blurp...seriously, you are speaking on the side of non informed. I have read a lot of books over the years, and this huge book was one of them. If you have any comprehension skills at all, then you should read it as you will speak from a level of insight rather than sound like a fool with a unknowing point of view. I will not entertain your stance, that is yours, but for the record...the Urantia book was the most interesting read on this type of subject....

YES. This is why intelligent people are ALSO more open-minded.

THEY realize that they DONT know everything. They GENERALLY have more curiosity and SEEK answers.

Followers of ORGANIZED religion tend to be exactly THAT...followers, thinking LITTLE for themselves. It's EASIER to just have someone GIVE you simple answers for everything.

Carry on! The church EXPLAINS it all for you!

Well I read it everyday, and I'm sure that many non-muslims have, but given the quality of the posts I have come across in this particular thread I was very doubtful any of the posted read the book back to back, as then you could form arguments on the content. Verses can't stand alone as it was source from a semetic language, and thus some context is needed to interpret what is being said throughout the chapters, and then as a whole.. from the book.

So yeah, I stand by comment as no one here has bothered justifying why the Quran is evil, with an argument based on citations and interpretations.

As opposed to..

I read 600 pages - conclusion = It's evil

This book has billions of followers, it's probably the most influential book in history. And then there's story books that get better book reviews in a classroom in comparison to our posters here!

a reply to: gladtobehere great point, but your story is not complete... in any large divided country, state or city you will have the earners and the takers, the murders, the robberies with zero regard for human life, drive by murders, gang activity, etc, etc. the reasons for the murder rate in Chicago is completely different from a muslim earning his 72 babes...it is not the same and you know that. one is a quick buck or a thrill or what the hell ever, but you are comparing a culture of conquer and destroy over standard street violence for a quick take. that was a really poor shot at this....

It's a BOOK. Paper and INK.

It's only EVIL if you CHOOSE to BELIEVE it is evil. It has NO intrinsic power of its own. It is how the words INSIDE of it are USED that make the followers "good or bad".

Seriously. It's a BOOK. What people DO with a book is more important than the ACTUAL book.

I agree, so then why are we blaming the Quran for all these tragedies, why are not blaming the perpertrators... or human nature. Why are you blaming the gun and not the person behind the trigger.

The Quran doesn't say kill people without reason, it certainly doesn't say kill people needlessly, in ever higher numbers during Ramadan.

And if that was the case, it's been 1400 years - we've only recently seen an increase in Muslim on Muslim killings?

If a book said jump of a cliff to have 72 virgins... would you do it? Would blame the book or the reader?

See the Quran doesn't say any of that... and all these posters here that claim to have read 600 pages can't even tell you that.

Those Muslims are more likely politically motivated, or driven by anger and hate towards another denomination of Islam. Islam repeatedly says don't kill others without reason, and explicitly instructs against the killing of fellow Muslims.

Should stop blaming Islam, and the Quran and the other innocent Muslims that just want to get on with life peacefully.

Blame the perpetrators and Muslims will agree, and Muslims will condemn.
