Widespread cell phone, internet outages reported across country

Are you having trouble connecting to the internet or making phone calls today?

It appears that several phone and internet companies are having widespread outage issues. It is unclear what is causing the problems at this time.

I ran across this article on a local news feed a few minutes ago. I did not see it posted anywhere else here on ATS. I found it interesting and thought it may be of interest to some others here. Last I read they still do not know the cause.

That is strange almost all off the east coast is affected. Going to give my family a heads up in case we can't get through to each other.

This is strange, ive reloaded the links and it's almost half of the US with outages. Everything's working fine in South Florida right now.

no issues with AT & T for me here in Vermont. Looks to be pretty major though - wonder what happened

Un-named sources are telling me it was the Russians.

Solar flairs was my first thought also. Not saying this is what is happening at the moment but I suspect this is how a major world changing event would start. You just never know.

Perhaps the satellites had a covfefe malfunction from a tweet storm.

Didn't China send up a "secure or hackproof " satellite recently?
Makes one go hmmmm in this day and age.

It's happening all over the country but from reading forum comments from affected people, some can still text but most can't make calls. Strange, how it's sporadic like that. I thought if it's down then nothing works.

A couple of times in the last few hours I had to try twice before I could get into ATS.
Looks like something irregular, intermittent.

Verizon is working fine for me in Nashville TN...I couldn't even get the outage map to load right though so I couldn't tell what areas are being affected.

My calls are now full of static. St Lucie County Florida . Wth is going on? I hope its nothing bad. Any members here from the east coast from Georgia to New York having any issues?

I'm east-coastish (gulf coast florida) and my cell service is and has been fine.

Where i am,Idiots is us is up and running :p

Here in cali and things are ok. Some slight issues but I'm still on. Surprising since it's 108 degrees here today which can sometimes result in stuff getting too hot and breaking.
