Why didn't Obama bring ANY of them home?

Why should he? It's not like this kid was innocent he willing broke the law in another nation. Had Obama forced NK to hand him over that would give more brain-dead idiots the courage to break laws thinking they can get away with it simply because they're American.

i dont understand why people feel the government needs to get involved in a case where a person willingly goes there and then willingly breaks one of their laws.
i just dont understand

i dont think he deserved to die. of course not
but
had he not #ed up and did what he did he would not have been put in prison

thats a fact

information from a college kid?
ok

sometimes a sick feeling of pleasure is all it takes....any information even if seemingly insignificant would be a bonus.....some people need no reason to hate.

I'm not happy that this young man was forcibly detained, publicly humiliated in a kangaroo court, sentenced to what we would all consider a duration disproportionate to his accused crime, and somehow physically damaged to the point or essentially being brain dead. In that most basic condensation of this complex situation, I do feel pity and compassion for Otto Warmbier and his grieving family, and would not wish that upon anyone else.

However...

He's the one who willingly went to North Korea on his own accord. It's no secret how much they hate American citizens, and have treated some of them in the past. So either through unbelievable ignorance or brazen stupidity in regards to his situation at the time, he decided to commit an act of theft and vandalism and got caught Red-handed (pun intended).

He played with fire and got burnt, so why is he being held by some of you as a rally call for military action on North Korea?

Dude had to die for taking a propaganda poster. WTF kind of planet are we living on. A stinking piece of paper. How sad and sick is that.

My friend, it is so very sad...

Imagine the GLOBAL outrage if an illegal Mexican citizen in the US had been returned to Mexico in the same condition after being incarcerated by our government.

This thread is not about Iraq. But I get the point. I also don't agree with what is going on there.

Trump statement on death of Otto Warmbier

"There is nothing more tragic for a parent than to lose a child in the prime of life. Our thoughts and prayers are with Otto’s family and friends, and all who loved him," read a statement from Trump on Monday.

Agreed, it sucks, glad I don't live there. But there's some old saying about cleaning up your side of the street first. Why we give a # about this piss ant country to begin with seems like a throw back to the Cold War days. And don't give me crap about a nuke, Pakistan is terrorist country that has had a nuke for years and what do we do with them? We give them Billions and Billions of dollars.

You know why the CIA is so concerned with NK? Banking, son, banking.

You're right. We do need to clean up our act. We need to get our intelligence services under control.

They've been rogue for decades.

ETA, Kennedy tried to do that and they blew his head off for it.

These people are batsh*t crazy.

Anything would have been better than basically just telling the family to pipe down and not make a big deal outta it.....seriously

Sigh. As I posted earlier, the Obama Administration demanded Otto's return and sent out clear statements that were pressuring NK. The day of his sentencing, Obama signed an EO, with a list of sanction on the NK government. He asked the family not to talk about their negotiations to the media.

And, as I said earlier, the only reason NK released him is because he was in a coma and dying. Not because of Trump diplomacy and not because of Dennis Rodman. NK was happy to send him back in a coma, sending a message to all Americans not # with them!

Trump is no winner here. North Korea is the winner here.

Dennis Rodman seemed to consistently have a good time there during his multiple visits. Average people see that in the news and think it would be a fun place to visit.
