More Men are Raped in the US than Women?!?!?

I just ran across this tidbit and found it fascinating..also had no idea what forum it fits in.. so here goes.

Appearently in the United States about 90,000 women are raped each year, but more that 200,000 men are?!?!



Well that is the opposite from the mainstream narrative...

Now I'm not making any deeper conclusions to that, such as "women shouldn't be afraid of being raped", just that I can't imagaine many people know this.


It is an especially crazy stat when considering the college campus safe space trend... and the claim that one out of 4 or 5 women are raped in college.

There is no real movement to stop men from being raped in prison.. in fact it is a running joke in all forms of media.

I heard someone make a really good quote one time..

"People hear about a rapist being raped in prison and think "awesome!! Good 1 vs Evil 1! Everything is even!!!"

But in reality it is "rape 2, humanity 0..."

I hadn't thought of stats from prison but that does make sense. Either way, men are doing most of the raping (the title made me think men were being raped by women, but that's not typically the case)

It's from Daily Fail though so go figure.

More rapes happen in prison than outside of prison, so yes, it does make sense that more men are raped than woman (while including rapes that happen in prisons*).

* that part was left out of the articles title

I posted that because I have placed a place holder thread before and watched 2 pages pop up with people just ranting about me using a placeholder post.. which is the most common of internet hints..

People know prisons are in America, they just don't think about including those stats..

You should have used "prison" in your thread title. That would be accurate.

Not everything has to be a competition.

Prison rape is a huge issue in the United States. Bone up on PREA.

Daily Fail clickbait.


But I agree with others, it's probably not untrue when one factors in prison rape.

Just it's yet another very misleading story from the Fail.

B) actually I dropped my phone after making the title and some how hit send.

The link was a courtesy after the last time that happened the thread was derailed by all the early posters.

The headline absolutely doesn't say that either..

It says that more men are paper than men in the US.. which is true..

A quick reading of the article suggests it not true anyway even including prison population, as it is comparing to completely different figures. An estimate of sexual assault and reported rapes.
