Pretty damn disgusting. Sounds like it was a game to him, other people involved or not, with that action seems to have been intentional.

Neil Basu, the Met Police's deputy assistant commissioner as just given a media briefing.

He said: "This was an attack on all Londoners and we should all stand together against extremists whatever their cause."

Why is it terrorism exactly? Is he a member of some organisation? Did he do it on behalf of some terrorist organisation? Is he known to MI5? Is he on some watch list? Or are you saying he's a one man terrorist organisation?

Nope not terrorism unless the word has been re-defined, just a murderer

It could still be an IS-inspired attack. Plenty of western converts, just get them to shave off their beard and loudly shout about killing muslims. IS want to stir up trouble and strife, after all. An Islamic Gleiwitz incident, if you will.

Or it's just a drunk guy in a van, but this is ATS so we need to look for conspiracy everywhere...

No mention of his "political aims". I doubt very much it was political in any way. Just an angry sad man out for revenge who has now been arrested for attempted murder

No, it's not even racism as Islam is not a race. We could make up a word and call it regionism, or some such crap.

Anyway, in the UK the definition of terrorism is defined below. Basically, quite a wide range of things.

Section 1.
(1) In this Act "terrorism" means the use or threat of action where-
(a) the action falls within subsection (2),
(b) the use or threat is designed to influence the government [or an international governmental organisation][2] or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and
(c) the use or threat is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious[, racial][3] or ideological cause.

(2) Action falls within this subsection if it-
(a) involves serious violence against a person,
(b) involves serious damage to property,
(c) endangers a person's life, other than that of the person committing the action,
(d) creates a serious risk to the health or safety of the public or a section of the public, or
(e) is designed seriously to interfere with or seriously to disrupt an electronic system.

(3) The use or threat of action falling within subsection (2) which involves the use of firearms or explosives is terrorism whether or not subsection (1)(b) is satisfied.

No it wasn't it was Muslims be OK ng targeted. This guy thought he in some way was fighting back I'm sure. But all he did was make it more likely another terrorist attack will occur. You really don't want to start trading off attacks with Muslim extremists. You never try to out crazy crazy it never turns out well.
