Arise Sir Big Yin , Billy Connolly Awarded Knighthood in Queens Birthday Honours List

Billy Connolly is a comedian , actor , musician and proud Glaswegian who today has been awarded a Knighthood in Queens Birthday Honours List , Billy has been making the country laugh since he left the Glasgow shipyards in the 70s to embark on what has become a phenomenal career of both stage and screen , now he is an international Star and a Knight of the Realm and it couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke.

My first encounter with Billy was in the late 70s when I went to our local cinema to watch his documentary film Big Banana Feet , back in those days he was big , brash and unpredictable , very blue but funny as hell.



These days in his 70s Billy is a little calmer but no less funny and still a little blue.


Congratulations Sir Billy , top bloke and true ambassador for Scotland.

LOVE Billy Connolly. I've been watching him for years and he just keeps getting better.
He deserved it.

Really glad, a great comedian and he seems so down to earth.
I nearly bought his old house in Windsor a few months ago but was beaten to it

If you'd approached the Big Yin back in the 70's or 80's and asked he'd accept a knighthood from her Maj he' possibly have told you to g'way. 'n'$hite, he sold out long ago though, I still respect him as a comedian and of course he's scottish as well...

You can't label everything that happens as a distraction. Life is so full of events that some of them necessarily happen at the same time.

I don't see it as selling out mate , it's an honour he's earned and I doubt he'll be lording it up , no doubt he'll have the piss ripped though.
