A lot of people in this thread keep saying that this play is about the assassination of the sitting president. It's not. It's the tale of Julius Caesar as told by William Shakespeare, done with modernized characters.

For those that need a refresher course on the play itself, I give you "Thug Notes". Enjoy! (Warning, some swear words and #)

free speech is clearly not appreciated by americans anymore seeing how they continue to abuse it and use it as an excuse to commit sedition and act as if assassination and murder of our president is perfectly ok just because they don't like him

And don't forget to mention accusing a sitting President to be unlawful because he was not a "natural born citizen." Trump abused the First Amendment and it is coming around to bite him on the butt.

And yet there were no assassination plays against Obama.

I detest the fact that I find myself defending an obvious "stab" at a sitting president.

Free speech, free expression is paramount BECAUSE of things like this.

You don't need free speech defended to say nice things.

You need free speech defended when you say sh#tty things!

Not true, as has been already shown several times in this thread. The exact same play was done in 2012 with a tall lanky black man playing the role of Julius Caesar and getting stabbed.

Not to mention all the Obama effigies that were hung and/or burned.

Now people are going after Shakespeare plays across the country. I'm waiting for someone to call for Shakespeare to be hung for treason.

"Going after?" That's an understatement.

Shakespeare companies are getting death threats, hoping they get sick and die, calls for rape, hoping they are sent to be murdered by ISIS, across the country. But it's only the left that acts like that, according to some.

People mad about the Trump-like ‘Julius Caesar’ are sending death threats to the wrong theater

I like that reason better. I say we burn him in effigy but that's too far for me, burn him right here in New Jersey.

Might be time for a new Colosseum. Let all the morons duke it out for our collective entertainment.

I hear we have an extradition treaty with Queen Elizabeth I.

I suppose instead of hanging or burning, we could quarter him between NJ, GA, and somewhere on the west coast.

People just don't get the Bard these days.
