The magnets used in packaging boxes would be lucky if they cost 1 cent each. Probably half a cent is more realistic.

Even if they are neodymium.. which they probably are based on the description..

Neodymium magnets are cheap...

Small ones on this site are sold for 11 cents a pop

China has the majority of rare earth elements, same for North Korea to some extent.

Do you know for sure that the magnets are comprised of Neodymium?

Thanks for the info! I was about to explain the same thing.
When I was a TIG welder, I used Tungsten (Tungsten Inert Gas-TIG) electrodes.
Tungsten is also a rare earth mineral. Besides welding, its also used for jewelry

Tungsten, I love that stuff, extreme heat tolerance - I use it in an alloy to build my rocket engines, and in jewelry it makes it super strong, light, and alloyed with other metals quite a nice color.
