Trumps legal counsel has now confirmed his tweet was not about anything other that responding to the WaPo story.
He has been given NO indication that he is under investigation.

That was a fairly obvious reading of his tweet.

So we're left with the WaPo story of anonymous sources who didn't even say the President was under investigation by the SC - only that interviews had been set up with Coates, Rogers et al - which you would expect the Sc to do as part of the Russia investigation.

So much for the 'facts' propagandists have been pushing.

Well we were discussing whether the reporting was accurate, it wasn't. Part of that is Trump's fault for putting out an ambiguous statement and part of that is the media's fault for making assumptions and running with it without checking. Either way the reporting wasn't accurate, he didn't acknowledge he was being investigated.

Yes, he did in his tweet. Has there been an official retraction or clarification from the WH?

I haven't seen one. Therefore his statement stands.

Sekulow: President has no knowledge of being investigated

You wanted it, you got it. Official clarification, therefore his "statement" no longer stands, that you knew all along wasn't a statement of fact anyway. All that talking in circles for nothing. Poor little shattered dreams

Edit: Just to be clear:

“The president has not been notified by anyone that he is under investigation,” Sekulow told “Fox News Sunday,”

So since the President has no knowledge of that, his tweet cannot possibly have been an acknowledgement. You don't believe WaPo's sources, so your only hopes were hanging on Trump's tweet. Trump's tweet wasn't a confirmation, since he hasn't been notified he's being investigated. Admit you were wrong, if you're man enough. I doubt you are. You'll just spin and spin and try to talk your way around it like a coward.

It was obvious to all apart from those that wanted to push an agenda.. claiming facts when there are none.

He also said:

“I can’t read minds.”

www.foxnews.com...

Which invalidates everything he said about Trump's tweet, right? Remember invalidating all of Comey's testimony because of a similar statement?

He said that in response to Wallace's assertion that "you don't know he's not under investigation". Which is true, and that's not what Sekulow said. He said Trump hasn't been notified that he is, so his tweet can't have been confirmation of something he's no aware of. He may well be under investigation, but since Trump hasn't been notified of that and it's impossible that his tweet was confirming something he doesn't know, the only source is now WaPo's anonymous source. And not even introvert believes them:

Another failure to read and failure of logic by the hopeless hopefuls.

Nope. He said he spoke to the President.

“The president has not been notified by anyone that he is under investigation,” Sekulow told “Fox News Sunday,”

He made it 'crystal clear' - his words - that the President's tweet was in response to the WaPo story. He does not have any information from the SC to confirm he is under investigation.

The response to the story was obvious to all but those who want to push propaganda.

At this moment in time we do not know if Mueller has decided to press ahead with an investigation into obstruction - and i highly doubt he would because the President has the constitutional right to stop any investigation and fire anyone he wants.

Now if he starts destroying evidence and ignores a Supreme Court ruling, there would be cause, but there has been nothing like that.

Exactly - you can see the length that propagandists will go to. We've snared two of the biggest in this thread.

That pretty much settles that unless DOJ makes an official statement. The last statement from them was the Deputy AG warning gullible people about believing everything anonymous sources say. I'm sure the usual suspects will be back to embarrass themselves trying to salvage something here. Quite frankly it's pathetic and I feel sorry for them. I'm off to find more interesting subjects with more than butthurt conspiracy theorist speculation.

Wise. We both know that these leftists don't stop with propaganda and lies.

Now reports that Trump is not yet under investigation by Mueller.

Then on Sunday, the plot thickened further when according to ABC, special counsel Robert Mueller has not yet decided whether to investigate President Trump as part of the Russia probe, suggesting the WaPo report that a probe had already started was inaccurate.

"Now, my sources are telling me he's begun some preliminary planning," Pierre Thomas, the ABC News senior justice correspondent, said of Mueller on ABC's "This Week" although he too, like the WaPo, was referring to anonymous sources, so who knows who is telling the truth.

"Plans to talk to some people in the administration. But he's not yet made that momentous decision to go for a full-scale investigation."

Here Trump's lawyer says twice that Trump is being investigated and also that he's not being investigated.. which makes sense when you understand Trump only hires shady obnoxious a-holes to talk for him...

'Don't tell me what I'm trying to do': Fox News anchor clashes with Trump attorney in fiery interview over investigation
finance.yahoo.com...

"He takes the action that they also, by the way, recommended. And now he's being investigated by the Department of Justice," Sekulow said. "So he's being investigated for taking the action the attorney general and deputy attorney general recommended him to take by the agency that recommended the determination."

"You've now said that he's being investigated," Wallace said.

"No, Chris. Let me be crystal clear so you completely understand: We have not received nor are we aware of any investigation of the president of the United States," Sekulow replied.

"Sir, you've just said two times that he's being investigated," Wallace said.

Sekulow goes on several times to say he was just speaking hypothetically if there was an investigation.

Honestly, I don't really believe him.

My thought is that Trump and his team have not been officially told that they are under investigation, but assumed the WAPO story may be true (that Mueller was investigating them) and responded as such.

The article I posted shows he now may not yet be under investigation.

Who the heck knows, all of these anonymous sources are garbage.

I was just posting to introvert that we currently have no idea if there is an invetsigation or not.

Honestly, Grambler, I'm confused.

His legal counsel says he's not being investigated, but fails in defending the tweet Trump made in epic proportions. The CNN video with Sekulow was a trainwreck.

Was this an official WH retraction or clarification, or was this his own legal team trying to do damage control?

I'm more than willing to concede points when necessary, but this appears to be a weak political "stroke".

Pathetic, actually.

Yeah see my post above.

My gut feeling, of which I have ZERO proof, is that although Trump has not officially been informed that he is under investigation, they assumed the WAPO story may be true. And so they are trying to have it both ways, defending against the investigation, but also adding they are not sure there is one (a stupid strategy might I add)

But again, we currently have no proof one way or another.

What a mess.

Trump's own legal staff cannot go out to the media, which is supposed to be fake, and properly defend Trump without contradicting themselves.

I took Trump for his word and said that I would change my mind if there was an official retraction or clarification, but this is the bull# we get.

At some point we should be able to agree that this is a complete joke.

I agree.

Trump and his team have foot in mouth disease.

However, before I start sounding like one of you commie leftists (Jk), let me say this.
It is even more ridiculous at the amount of anonymous sources, leaks and stories being constantly made up about Trump.

It seems as if the new strategy is to make up a million stories and hope trump does something dumb in response of one of them.

I am far more concerned about Comey and the leaks of the deep state and the false stories in the media than Trumps stupidity in attempts to defend himself.

Even though I support Trump, I will agree with you that his lawyers discussion was stupid.

But I don't think its a big deal.

I'm a socialist, thank you.

No, it's not more ridiculous. The media is what it is and we can hold them accountable for the crap they push, but we are talking about the WH and the President of the United States.

Why can't the President do any better than those we bash as fake news?

It seems as if the new strategy is to make up a million stories and hope trump does something dumb in response of one of them.

No. It seems the media is reporting what they hear, which is their job, and Trump's job is to tweet about it...sending his minions to get their asses handed to them on TV by the fake news outlets.

I am far more concerned about Comey and the leaks of the deep state and the false stories in the media than Trumps stupidity in attempts to defend himself.

You're more worried about Comey, who is no longer at the FBI, and the media, who we can easily dismiss, as you very well do, than a president that's too stupid to intelligently defend himself?

Really?

We can easily change the channel to get past the fake news.

Trump is the #ing president!
