This shooter (I won't use his name) was not "insane", IMO.

He was a True Believer™ who was a disciple of the Alt-Left MSM and particularly enthusiastic Trump-hater Rachael Maddow.

He was a political activist.

No "insane" person writes rationally and with purpose like this would-be assassin.

I have to ask, for those claiming that the MSM/celebrities/DNC/etc are in some way culpable what do you propose should be done?

Inciting violence is a criminal act. If this guy was a big fan of kathy griffin, maybe kathy has some explaining to do...

Reports say police responded to his home back in March for shots fired.
He had a permit for the weapon.

Also reported he also has a criminal history, including assaulting his girlfriend in 2006.

Isn't domestic violence a huge red flags when it comes to getting a gun permit?

It should be, and also indication of one prone to violence in general.

However, he had at least an M4, as far as what his criminal convictions are, and where he got/bought the gun, who knows.

Where did you hear he had an M4? That's very, very unlikely.

It was reported earlier, but now it has been updated to an M4 type assault rifle.

The gunman's weapon was similar to an M-4 assault rifle, CBS News has learned.

The article originally said it was an M4, however.

I condemn violence in all forms. Attempting to kill 1 person is wrong. Attempting to kill 24 million people by taking their health insurance is 24 million times as wrong.

Well done!

Can everyone now see how this madman today could have convinced himself that it was legitimate to kill republicans?

He was just saving the lives of 24 million people!

I am not even going to go through how insane your statement is equivocating murders to people with a policy disagreement.

I will just say as long as people with your insane mentaality are out there, this sort of violence is inevitable.

That post made the point perfectly that the MSM carries a lot of the blame for these types of actions.

I was half listening to Pelosi and Ryans comments.

Granted I didn't listen to carefully, but both seemed to not be political and wish the victims well.

Pelosi rambled a bit (but that's normal) but they both had respectful, unifying, apolitical things to say. Same with Trump which was nice to see.

I read through a good bit of his fb posts too. Interesting reading. Unlike most fb pages his was very solidly political, not much else on there. At least not that I saw. I have a fair amount of political stuff on my page. But you are more likely to find something funny about dogs than you are to find politics at any given time. His page seemed to be very single minded, not very convincing of a real web page at all. I cant go as far as to say it was fake, but it seemed odd.

His posts went back four years...I followed some of the news story links. It seemed to check out to me.

(Keep in mind he had two accounts and only one went back four years)

B-b-but tolerance! Understanding! I thought the left "evolved" beyond using violence and hateful rhetoric to achieve their goals. Peace, man!

At least we can see pass the farce now, right?

This is coming from the guy with the nod to white supremacist Richard Spencer in his sig.

In other words, CBS reported fake news. Gee, what a total shocker.

And, now his most active and recent FB account has been pulled down.

ETA: Now both have been pulled.

Because it was being overrun with commenters, I suppose.

I tried looking at it but the number of comments kept the page moving out of frame, so I gave up.

I sorted the posts by year so it wouldn't do that for me.

Trying to pin any of them with inciting violence is a slippery slope. Remember we had people take shots at the White House when Obama was in office. Does that mean sites like WND and people like Ted Nugent should also be charged with inciting violence?

You have constantly looked to undermine the legitimacy of the Trump Administration and promoted the traitor and impeachment narrative, thus reinforcing Trump is a traitor. Trump has destroyed our Democracy, if that was actually the case then any true American Patriot would be entitled to violently resist the Government if all legal means fail, that's the supposed reason they have the guns in the first place, your participation in the promotion of the false narrative triggered this individual to think that such a situation prevailed, you twisted the guys thinking so much he thought shooting up Congressmen was defending Democracy..

Karma can be a bitc#!

If it can be proven they had a direct influence, perhaps. It wont be easy, that much is certain. But I think in some cases you could probably link the message with the behavior.

Heres a thought I have.

I think the dems, media, and even some establishment republicans strongly dislike Trump. I think deep down they know they are going over the top with their rhetoric of him, and the accusations they are laying at his feet.

But I also think that a lot of this is gamesmanship. I don't think they feel trump is treasonous or the end of democracy, it just helps them politically to make these points.

The problem is that the average person does not get this, and takes all of these claims at face value.

Its like a sports team. The Red Sox will pretend to hate the Yankees and vice versa, but at the end they don't really HATE each other. But their fans do.

And so I hope people in the media and politics on all sides start to understand that people take their gamesmanship too seriously and may resort to violence.

Though to counter my argument, maybe some of these folks do a actually hate Trump. I don't know I am just rambling.

LIES.

There's hardly a BLM thread alll last year that didnt have you in there for pages derailing the threads that all the stuff BLM fanatics were doing in response to the BLM campaign wasnt the results of BLM's campaign. It's all on record here. And i saw you in action in all the same ways in multiple islamic terror attack threads. Its these hot breaking news threads of particular note. Like this one here today you're doing it again.

If people are driven to terrorism in the name of leftist causes, NOPE it wasnt the propaganda / social engineering that drove them to do it.

I think in some circles that might be considered being a terrorist sympathyzer.

If you disagree please explain what it would be instead.

Maybe its just subconscious, you never evem realized it.

If so I hope this helps.

The first stage of curing a lot of cognitive issues is recognizing abd facing them head on.

Does the apathetic nature of the far left progressives not scare you as well?
Does it not send red flags when the New York Times supports play put on in a public setting where they depict the assassination of your President?
Does it not make you uneasy to see simulated decapitation of your president's head displayed on left-wing media?
Does Antifa's, Saul Alinsky inspired tactics, and Marxism ideology displayed violently at Berkeley riots against conservative citizens of the United States not give you pause?
How about when a Democratic Socialist from Illinois posts hate speech on his Facebook page, and then carries out an attack against conservative members of government. Does this follow through not scare you?

I think conservatives are the least of your worries?

I'm not justifying anything.

I'm just approaching it from a non-emotional standpoint.

I didn't compare this man to the founding fathers, I am showing who INSPIRED his actions today.
I am showing you what we teach our children is Right and Good.

From the Revolution to our media depictions of killing Nazi scumbags, this is the mentality we teach and glorify.
"Kill the tyrants!"

So why would anyone be surprised or think it's bad when someone finally gave into the conditioning and did as they were taught to do?

I just think everyone needs to get a grip.
Let's be honest with ourselves for once, finally:
We love violence. It's who we are. It's all of human history.
It's what defines us and decides our fates, it solves problems.

Everyone got to be a hero today.
The cops who stopped the bad guy, the victim congressman and his aides, the eyewitnesses, even the bad guy is a hero too. And guess what else? All of us spouting our pointless opinions and condemning everyone else? We're heroes too. This is a nation of patriots and heroes. Land of the Free Home of the Brave!

They better not call off that baseball game either, it's gonna be historic!
When they sing the National Anthem I'm gonna put my hand over my Heart and cry my eyes out.

Look at the bright side....
We live in the greatest nation in the world man. Everyone else is far more screwed up than us.
I'm just really honest about what's really going on here. We're all great patriots if you really look closely.

That logic is a bit spurious. Ted Kaczynski was a genius that wrote out an entire manifesto explaining his views and actions. Last time I checked he was hardly a paragon of sanity.
