I wonder how long it will be before the P.C. crowd makes it a jail-able offense in western countries for saying something off the cuff that someone somewhere does not like.. We have all read certain countries are already cracking down on social media conversations that some might find offensive.. But .... how about the DEATH PENALTY for speaking in a manner that some religious police take offense at.

LAHORE, Pakistan (Reuters) - A Pakistani counter-terrorism court has sentenced to death a man who allegedly committed blasphemy on Facebook, a government prosecutor said on Sunday, the first time someone has been handed the death penalty for blaspheming on social media.

The conviction of Taimoor Raza, 30, follows a high-profile crackdown against blasphemy on social media by the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Blasphemy is a highly sensitive topic in Muslim-majority Pakistan, where insulting the Prophet Mohammad is a capital crime for which dozens are sitting on death row. Even mere accusations are enough to spark mass uproar and mob justice.

Even in Pakistan there are problems between the Shia and Sunni sects.. Our death row guy Raza is of the Shia minority. A simple dorm debate on religion can get you beaten to death... Wow wouldn't it be wonderful if we all converted to Islam (sarc)

Religion ... enjoy it whall it last one day all that bull# will be outlawed

Not to be confused with faith or belife

Religion is man made and brings nothing but death ... u dont need it to do good only to justify doing wrong

Ye, good suggestion.

Some of your peers would also recommend a personal server, homebrew build, most likely someones basement. That way, no one can see your work that people may not agree with.

That's very true, religion is the human poison
but...
This is the chosen political and justice system of the country, it was/is their choice

Cases like this highlight how important our freedoms are.

We could very easily slip into a culture like that one where the death penalty is meted out simply for offering up an opinion.

That's why you don't allow religion into law. This is the value of separation of church and state. Christianity has far too much influence on western law as well. Why is abortion so contentious and increasingly harder to get access to? Christian notions that life begins at conception. It's quite a bit different than blasphemy laws but our farts still stink.

Lol, its less about religion and more about dissent against the state. Of course they disguise that (and so do you) that its religion based.

Gotta keep the war on terror alive don't we...

He probably knew the consequences.
Why do we get to hold other cultures to American type standards sometimes but not others?

Errrr and this is why I do not use Facebook, all those anti Hillary remarks people made "can and will be used against you"...

Honestly, so FaceBook is not only a relationship killer it now enables peoples to be executed..

Well if I was a defence lawyer simply go into court of appeal and state..

Please provide beyond all reasonable doubt that god exists...

Case closed..

What a f#cked up world we live in....

The "religion of peace" is so progressive, accepting, and peaceful!

I'm sure some apologist nut will be along to tell us how Christianity is exactly the same.

I can't believe who he was actually sentenced by

A Pakistani counter-terrorism court

Aren't they supposed to protect the public from this kind of extremism?
