Appealing to authority always was the counter-(non)culture thing to do on ATS.

Obey?

When the anti-Trump crowd supports big government, establishment candidates, high taxes, Socialized medicine, etc. It's quite obvious.

It's quite obvious how all that fits into the class-warfare narrative as well.

SOCIALISM!!!oneoneelven

You really need to get yourself an educational vacation in Norway. But not during summer-time, the mosquitos will probably kill you special snowflakes instantly.

I wholeheartedly agree with all but your very last statement. I do not see it as a good thing what the media is doing because they are essentially crying wolf; and if Trump (or a future president for that matter) ever does truly step out of line, then nobody is going to be willing to listen to the media anymore for lack of trust. The media is shooting themselves in the foot, with each of them all trying to be the next reporter to uncover the new 'Watergate' scandal.

What I'm trying to get at is I understand why people on the left hate Trump and why they feel the way they do.

Then please darlin explain it to me because I'm dumb founded by what
to me, can easily be described as some kind of spell. It looks like sorcery.

I don't think Trump wants to do any of the things he campaigned on; It was just a marketing ploy to get elected.

Trump has been doing and saying dumb # since the early 80s, its nothing new really, hes just overhyped by the left and right media in the usa.

And for the smart people out there losing it on trump, well it also simple, stupid makes people react in weird ways, and yes trump is stupid, and is followers well there the special kind.

There the ones who get offended at things like the war on xmas, now thats a special kind of stupid.

if you were to make a list of actions Trump has taken, and the reasons behind them, and then substituted obama's name in as creator, these decisions would be celebrated in the press...fact.

So your saying that if obama had went through bankruptcy as many times as trump
People would claim obama is da best eva.

the most significant insight i have dredged from this fracas is the conflict between managing a nation as a community versus operating it as a business. they are not the same thing, and they are a delicate balance indeed. and i feel that this is where people are split as americans. no one can agree on how to compromise between making money and mending morals. philanthropy and business are passionate frenemies and it shows in the american public. this is why i would choose the independent party over the false choice dilemma that dominates american politics, because the truth is...we need both republican and democrat. they each offer essential qualities that are invaluable to the government, but they seem to encourage a needless caveat that neither can be too friendly or cooperative with the other lest they discover that somewhere in the middle, left brain and right brain becomes a coherent system that cancels out the worst of each and amplifies the best of both. in short, the left and right "twix complex" is a complication that seems more confusing than helpful. and i keep hoping that the independent party can be an example to all of the purists. my suggestion would be to take the leading nominees from all three parties (left, right, and middle) and replace the presidency with a triumviracy to guarantee balance the same way the three branches of government do. but thats just idle contemplation on my part. maybe you could call it intellectual insanity. so crazy it just might work.

I cannot deny the truth I feel in my heart and I will not censor myself because my opinion doesn't fit with the mainstream narrative.

And there it is. Be honest, a large part of your support for Trump boils down to your feelings. On some level you have the feeling that Trump really "just wants the best" for America. I'm reminded of people who ignore big glaring red flags to stay in unhealthy relationships:

"He's just misunderstood."
"He loves me."
"They don't know him like I do."
"He only lies about little things."
"He's changed."
"It's not his fault, he just can't catch a break."

Meanwhile, he's a lying, cheating asshole whose screwing your best friend, draining your bank account and causing you to turn your back on the friends who are all shaking their heads in disbelief that you're playing yourself. Give it some time and you'll be jilted, broke and wondering if those bumps are herpes.

Huh? Let me clue you in on something. 99% of the opposition to Trump don't put much if any stock in the dossier. None of this has nthing to do with the stupid dossier. We all get that most of it is probably just garbage rumor.

Which makes it just about as credible as Donald Trump.

The other day I was watching one of those mind numbing morning talk shows, and one of them described the people who voted against Trump as "the sophisticated city folk".

This is not new. I have lived with this common view of us country folk all my life.

When I was a young girl, my super intelligent, sophisticated cousins, from the city, would come to visit during school breaks. They made fun of us not having street lights and they laughed at our wells. We were the country bumpkins. Yet they never passed up the opportunity to come. They were the first to beg to ride the horses, pet the livestock, pick the tomatoes, strawberries, watermelons, grapes, raspberries, and camp out under the stars they never saw in the city.

We are all old farts now, but they continued to come, then brought their children, and now they bring their grand and great grands.

Country folk pride themselves on not being sophisticated. We are happy just being plain old down earth commonsense folk. Maybe it is time that we stop listening to the super educated and sophisticated city folk and started listening to the common folk.

Bankruptcy on a business sense is not a sign of failure but more a sign of trying.
One thing you leftists fail to realize is 80% of all business endeavors fail within the first year. Trump actually has a higher success rate than most people. But the left is more in the market of regulating people out of business so I wouldn't expect them to understand this. Like trying to explain to a child what infinity is...

You are using arguments that were disproven and debunked numerous times more than a year ago...

Obama backs out of the Paris agreement.
Obama fires FBI director over an investigation involving Obama's associates.
Obama's spokepeople lied about why the FBI director was fired.
Obama takes credit for Saudi Arabian-led blockade of strategic partner Qatar.
Obama appoints his son-in-law czar of everything.
Obama's Nat Sec Advisor lies about contact with Russian officials.
Obama's AG lies about contact with Russian officials.
Obama attacks mayor of London in wake of terrorist attack with obvious mischaracterization.
Obama won't release taxes.

There's a few off the top of my head. None of those become good headlines because "Trump" is replaced with "Obama."

How many times are we going to rehash the same arguments?

We know we have a lousy President. We had nothing but lousy candidates to choose from. Regardless of who won, we would still be here spouting the same claims, beliefs, and insults.

We are stuck with Trump for 4 years. That is not a lot of time. If we don't start doing something differently, we are going to be in the same exact place next election, having to choose between President Camacho, President James Dale, or someone worse.
