Comey’s testimony today was a bad day for Trump haters. Not only did he fail to prove Trump committed any crimes, he also threw the media, Lorretta Lynch, and himself under the bus. I plan on going through the areas of importance for the testimony, and pointing why it was a bad day for Trump haters.

Obstruction of Justice by Trump.

This was arguably the most important thing that people were concerned with from this testimony. The anti-Trump media has been obsessed with this idea, and has even put counters up until the testimony at the sheer glee they would have if Trump was guilty of this.

So what did Comey say.

He admits that Trump did not literally tell him to end the investigation. He says based on the fact he asked people to leave the room, and said he hoped the investigation would end, that he had a feeling Trump was demanding he end it. Here is the problem with this.

1. He admits that Trump’s words were not obstruction.

2. He says he got a feeling that was what Trump was doing, but later admits in testimony that he had a hard time getting a feeling for what Trump was thinking.

3. He admits that if an FBI agent thinks a crime occurred, they should report it to the appropriate people (the AG). He did not do this. In fact, he offered to resign in the past when he felt he was asked to do something unethical, but did nothing here.

4. He says he didn’t let others in the FBI know this because he felt it would have affected the investigation. Yet Trump publicly said almost the same thing to the media the next day (that he felt Flynn was a good man and hoped he would be cleared).

Also, this admission counters with the idea that the FBI, which knew not only that Obama didn’t want Hillary found guilty, but also knew that Lynch asked that the investigation be called a matter instead of investigation, conducted an appropriate investigation of Hillary. This investigation including unprecedented things such as allowing a person under investigation (Huma) to sit in on another suspects interview (Hillary), and not taking notes on the investigation.

Did Comey just admit that the FBI is biased based on the whims of a President?

5. Comey admits Trump never mentioned Flynn again, and that the investigation was unimpeded.

6. Comey told sessions to not let him in a room alone again with Trump. This was because he was so afraid that Trump would ask him something inappropriate. Despite this, he spoke several more times in private on the phone with Trump, and Trump never brought up anything about stopping investigations.

7. Comey admits that Trump told him that he hoped they would investigate any “satellite people” in his administration that worked inappropriately with Russia, and get to the bottom of it.

This hardly sounds like the words of a man trying to stop an investigation.

All of these facts seem to overwhelm Comey's feeling that there was something serious going on. This alone was a huge blow to the ant trump people. The best they can get out of this is that Trump is a jerk or an idiot, hardly the bombshell they wanted.

Trump is not concerned with Russia

The next thing worth mentioning is the narrative that Trump is not concerned with Russia or the investigation. Some points on this.

1. Comey blatantly lies when the one democrat (Heinrich) asks him if he can recall any conversations when Trump seemed concerned with Russia. Comey says no.

Yet in his testimony earlier that day, he admits Trump discussed investigating satellite people in his campaign and getting to the bottom of any wrong doing.

2. Trump has publicly decried any attempts to influence the election from Russia, and said it won’t be tolerated.

3. Comey and the rest of the Dems and the media rarely mention the only crimes we do know are occurring, the leaking of classified info. Based on the fact they are implying that Trump not constantly discussing Russia somehow means he has no problem with those crimes, are they admitting they have no problem with the crimes of the leaks?

4. Comey admitted (as have others) that Russia has attempted to influence elections for a long time, and will do so in the future. Presumably Obama knew this, and yet he mocked Romney for suggesting Russia was a problem. Based on the Democrats logic, doesn’t this prove that Obama was ok with Russia interference?

Russian interference is an enormous deal

People on all sides seemed to agree that looking into Russia is one of the biggest concerns for this country, that we were attacked and that this could jeopardize our very democracy. So here are some points on that.

1. As stated above, Russia has apparently been doing this for a long time. So why did Obama and many others laugh at Romney for worrying about Russians. It seems suspicious that they are only concerned when they think it negatively affected them.

2. If this is such a huge deal, why is it only Trumps people being looked at. Why is there no conversation of the many people in Hillarys campaign that had connections to Russia. Granted she lost and it appears the Russians were against her, but if they are so clever and insidious as everyone seems to be agreeing, wouldn’t they alos have tried to get dirt or collude people from both sides. If this is truly a nonpartisan investigation of such importance, why wouldn’t all sides be looked into?

3. The most damning negation of this point. If the Russia thing is so huge, WHY DID THE FBI NOT PERSONALLY LOOK AT THE DNC SERVERS? Why did the DNC not want them to do this.

All of this energy on Russian hacking, and the best possible method onf not only proving that they did it, but developing strategies to stop them in
the future, and the FBI takes a pass? That’s unbelievable!

Comey admits in todays testimony that usually it is very important to look at the physical evidence on the server, but says they used a very good source (Crowd Strike, who happens to be connected to the DNC) to do this for them.

This proves that the Russia investigation is less about the safety of our election systems, and more of a witch hunt against Trump.

Memo taking

The original news story about Comey’s memos were that he is a very meticulous note taker and has been his whole career. Therefore it was likely that he had memos on Trump. People started to wonder if those memos were going to be looked at, why not memos from Obama, Hillary, and Lynch. Unfortunately, he claims to not haven taken memos for them. Here are some points.

1. The narrative changed once it looked like memos could be used in other investigations of Democrats. This seems very convenient.

2. Comey claims one of his reasons for his memo on Trump was his “Character”. This was based off of one meeting. This proves that Comey didn’t like Trump from the beginning, a fact I am sure Trump recognized. This may explain why
Trump wanted him gone.

3. Comey claims to have kept memos basically because of a bunch of factors that made him feel uneasy. Yet he admits this is exactly how he felt when Lynch (or someone working for her or Hillary) requested Comey to not say Hillary was under investigation, but it was a matter. Yet for some reason, Comey took no memos on this.

4. Comey clearly recognizes the importance of memos when a situation may be hugely important in the future. Despite this, he allowed Hillary to be investigated with no note taking. This seems once again to illustrate that Comey favored keeping a good image for Hillary, and a bad one for Trump.

Lorretta Lynch

Despite this testimony being gleefully wanted by democrats, it turns out that it may have hurt them more than anything. As shown above, it didn’t help them with the obstruction charge. But it quite possibly could bring Lynch down.

1. Comey admitted that she asked him to refer to the investigation into Hillary as a “matter”, not an investigation. He admits that this made him uneasy, and he knew this was being done to line up campaign spin. This proves two things

A) Lynch was actively working for Hillary when she was the head person in charge of rather or not she would be charged (she never recused herself).

B) Comey not only didn’t report this startling conflict of interests, but actually did as requested knowing it was to make Hillary look better.

2. Comey admits that he almost recommended a special prosecutor and probably should have, but ultimately decided that it would have made Hillary look bad, and he knew that she was innocent because the investigation was over. Several problems.

A) Comey was merely an investigator, not prosecutor. If he knew the prosecutor was actively working with the accused, he had a duty to call attention to this or recommend a special prosecutor. By not sdoing so because the corrupted prosecutor agreed with his feelings ion the case, he was acting not as an investigator, but as a prosecutor and judge.

This is horribly inappropriate.

B) Lynch should be immediately investigated for obstruction of Justice. Her telling Comey to use lingo to benefit the person she is deciding on rather or not to prosecute, especially given that she refused to recuse herself, had a direct effect on the investigation, moreso than anything Trump is accused of.

This is buttressed by the reports (which are probably a lie but who knows) that there was a letter circulating that Lynch supposedly secretly told everyone that Hillary wouldn’t be indicited. I am not arguing that this letter was real, but Comey felt that if people thought that is what she said, it would be very bad. Given that, and Comey also knew in his mind that Lynch was actively working to belittle the investigation to help Hillary’s image, it proves that at least in Comeys mind, he thought what Lynch was doing was a huge deal.

C) Comey went out of his way not to appoint a special counsel for Hillary because he thought it would make people believe there was something there. In other words, he didn’t want to hurt Hillary’s image. Yet he admits that the reason he wanted his memos leaked to the press was to get a special prosecutor for Trumps administration.
In other words, Comey went out of his way to protect Hillary’s image, and hurt Trumps. This proves his bias.

Leaking memos to a friend

The next entity most harmed by Comey’s testimony may be him himself. He admitted that he gave his memos to a friend to leak to the press with the intent of getting a special prosecutor. Here are some problems.

1. Strange that Comey would keep all of these memos and be bothered by theem, but instead of reporting to the AG or doing things in a proper way, he sat on them, and only used them when he got fired. Instead of giving them to the proper people, he leaked to this press. This reeks of getting back at Trump instead of seeking honest justice.

2. Comey supposedly took leaks to be a serious deal that he was investigating. So why would he use the exact same venue to help himself? At the very least, it glorifies the previous leaks.

3. Comeys memos may be privileged or classified based on the fact that they were private conversations with the President. Comey does not have the authority to unilaterally declare something classified or not. Just because they were Comey’s personal notes on the conversation does not mean they can automatically be allowed to be viewed by the public.

For example, a person could take notes on a conversation with the President about football, but during that conversation a possible detail is mentioned about an ongoing investigation. That info cannot be made public just because it is that persons personal notes.

In fact, there is a very real possibility that these memos will be used in a possible investigation of obstruction of justice. Comey in fact made private evidence of this case public.

4. Comey was asked did you show the memoS to anyone. He says yes his friend. He later admits that some of his memos were in fact classified. Note that he makes no distinction that he only sent his friend unclassified memos. Instead he is discussing memos as a whole and says yes his friend got copies of them.

In addition, even if it is argued (which I am sure it will be) that he meant he only gave unclassified memos to his friend, all of the news stories mentioned Comey taking memos of all of his conversations with Trump. This suggests that Comey at the very least told his friend about the classified memos he took. This is a crime.

5. As Rubio points out, isn’t it funny that the only thing not leaked was that in fact Trump was right when he said he was not under investigation. Comey had all sorts of little reasons why he couldn’t say that, though he admits that it was casting a cloud over Trumps ability to get things done.
et he has no problems leaking memos to make him look bad. It shows again that Comey was not interested in transparency to allow the American people to have the facts. He has taken every possible excuse to not tell the people that Trump wasn’t under investigation even though he legally could, and took ecvery opportunity to make him look bad based merely on his “feelings” on what he thought about Trump. In addition, he went out of his was to change rhetoric to make it seems as though Hillary was only involved in a matter, not an investigation.

This shows Comey’s bias again.

Comey and his friend should immediately be investigated for criminally leaking info to the press.

The Press

The final point I will make is about another runner for biggest loser in today’s testimony; the press.

1. Comey specifically called the Feb. 14th New York times article false. This article claimed that sources said there was surveillance that proved people in Trumps campaign were colluding with Russia. This is the supposed paper of record, and this report was discussed in almost all main stream media outlets to smear Trump. Now we find out it is a lie.

Apologies won’t cut it. The New York Times can no longer be trusted when the cite anonymous sources. They clearly have an agenda, and either through intention or ineptitude reported a false story about Trump to make him look bad.

2. Comey also said that the press quite often reports inaccurate stories, and the intelligence community is not able to correct them. This shows that we cannot trust any of these anonymous sourced stories by the press.

If Comey knows these stories are often inaccurate, that means the press does too. The fact they are so willing to take all of these stories at face value proves they have an agenda against Trump, and are not to be trusted.

3. The same press that is impugned by Comey’s testimony mentions nothing about their own lack of credibility, and yet is spinning his testimony as somehow damning against Trump. This again shows they will stop at nothing to lie, obfuscate, and spin to make Trump look bad.

If Comey’s testimony is that these stories are often false, then why should we believe the people peddling them on this issue?

4. Comey admits that many of these anonymously leaked stories are false and negatively inform the public about this important issue, and yet this is the exact method he chose to release his memos. This not only proves that he is an imbecile, but also serves to help make this type of behavior credible.

Keep in mind that under Comey, the FBI and other intelligence agencies were not able to find one leaker. Given his decision to become a leaker himself at first chance, can we really believe that he was making finding these leakers a high priority?

This testimony was not good for anti-Trump people. Comey, Lynch, and the press come out looking far worse than Trump. At best for the anti-trump crowd, Trump comes of looking insecure, bossy, and making ignorant decisions. He also made Comey “feel” weird.

Keep in mind that almost everyone has at one time or another has felt Comey acted inappropriately. So the claims that this man’s feelings somehow matter more than the actual words that Trump said because he is honorable is a joke, especially given all of the above mentioned problems with him.

The most amusing part of this whole mess now proceeds, the anti-Trump spinning of how this helped them. When that fails, more leaks will be presented to make Trump look again, and just like the Rachel Maddow tax “bombshell”, we will be asked to forget this and move on to the next hit piece.

Well summarized. Watched most of it and Comey came across as a spiteful looser who took sides and the side he was on lost. Trump should have fired this gutless wonder day 1.

It certainly is about only attacking Trump, and not about any other issue, even criminal issues linked to the DNC are less important for the Trump haters because they are the worlds biggest hypocrites, perhaps even the biggest hypocrites in the universe. The only known crime in the entire Trump-Russia investigation is the illegal leaking of classified intelligence.

One more thing under the section leaking memos to a friend.

As has been mentioned, Comey claims to have leaked these memos in response to Trump tweet about tapes. But the first media mentioned story on these memos was the day before Trump sent out his tweet.

This means that Comey lied about his reasoning.

Great breakdown Grambler.

All the negatives that were brought out against Trump by Comey either boils down to Comey's weakness and ineptness or just what Comey's 'feelings' were. "I felt that Trump" "I was uncomfortable"

Not exactly the way to bring a legal case against the sitting president to the American people.

"Oh! what a tangled web we weave
When first we practise to deceive!"

Walter Scott

Mr.Comey had time to prepare.

He destroyed any authority he might have possessed.

The facts will have to stand on their own feet.

He attempted to influence events by breaching non disclosure obligations.

He was caught in a lie regarding the timing of his strategic leaks.

He was a puppet of Mrs.Lynch and seems to have aided her in Obstruction of Justice.

Honestly I thought he was a better man.

Perhaps you can call Comey and discuss feelings.

Anything to add on the topic?

Great job and S+F of course. I hope something good comes out of this. Lynch needs to be investigated asap and Comey needs to put on his big boy pants and destroy the DNC and the Leprechaun. He is burned anyway so please quit being a coward and do something that's good and just for the history books.

In the interests of getting to the whole truth I did find this bit I missed from Comey.

BLUNT: You said you used classified —

COMEY: Not the classified documents. Unclassified. I don't have any of them anymore. I gave them to the special counsel. My view was that the content of those unclassified, memorialization of those conversations was my recollection recorded.

I believe, though it ia awkwardly worded, that this is Comey saying he only gave the unclassified memos to a friend.

This doesn't change the fact that he priorly when asked about all of the memos said he gave them to a friend, and that they may all be privileged anyways.

But I am not trying to mislead people, and will admit when I am wrong.

Here is all you need to know about Comey and Trump.

Trump asked for allegiance, and Comey promised allegiance to the truth.

Whether Trump asked for Comey to drop the case against Flynn or just asking him to go easy on Flynn is immaterial.

It didn't matter whether Comey had an investigation on Trump or Flynn.....There was an investigation of at least the Russia's involvement in our election. That we know.

Comey continued to investigate Russia, he was fired for it, then Trump sends out libelous and false statements about Comey after the firing.

This is clear obstruction of justice. Plane and simple. You know what they say, the cover up is always worse than the crime itself. Trump should be impeached immediately. It's just a matter of time.
