According to the Parliament website its still only £500. You don't need much to stand for election in the UK. It's just as an independent you've little chance of winning.

We do like the UK system, it's proper old school but it works. The huge numbers of joe public involved in giving out ballots, collecting, delivering and counting them. Means it's less likely we have electoral fraud.

Oh you can guarantee they'll all be terribly polite. It would be bad form to do otherwise. We Brits don't tend to get too wound up over trivial stuff like elections, we prefer venting our anger on the weather or poor quality tea bags

I personally have never understood the American system and all the humungous hooha that goes with every election. All seems a tad over the top to me

Hehe

We canucks get our feathers ruffled over important things like weather, hockey, and beer.

Politics tends to fall much much further down the list of priorities.

Most of us are well aware of the fact that it's all just bread and circuses, so we tend to treat it with a grain of salt here too.

Welp, there's no doubt about it...

Looks like the Scots have saved the conservatives butts in this one.

Makes one wonder what the Scots are going to demand as payment for services rendered.

Outspoken labour party critic of Corbyn, Hillary Benn wins his seat and is asked if today's results have changed his opinion. He doesn't answer the question.

Looking like a labour govt now.

No.

Even if the lib dems, greens, plaid cum and SNP go into collation they wont have a majority.

DUP said they would work with the torys which makes up the seats they lost.

Looking promising for all those not retarded enough to consider Islam a race, to equate national pride with racism or to welcome forced diversity on ONLY European and North American countries.

Fingers crossed there are lib riots tonight, English riot control is fun to watch.

Nope, because you haven't been a complete arse about it since Indyref. We're happy to offer you our sympathies and condolences.
