If someone’s daughter, sister, mother or friend “identified” as an overweight person trapped in a perilously emaciated body — if she truly believed she was obese, but, in reality, suffered from anorexia — would her family and friends affirm her perception and get her liposuction?
Or would they do whatever possible to help her bring her subjective (and mistaken) identity into alignment with objective reality?
Those are the kinds of questions many people are asking in light of the results of a new study done by two scientists — Lawrence Mayer and Paul McHugh — at Johns Hopkins University.
They conducted a meta-analysis of data from more than 200 peer-reviewed studies regarding “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.” It’s been described as, by far, the most objective and comprehensive study on the topic.
— “The understanding of sexual orientation as an innate, biologically fixed property of human beings
— the idea that people are ‘born that way’ — is not supported by scientific evidence.”
— “Sexual orientation” in adolescents is “fluid over the life course for some people.”
— “The hypothesis that gender identity is an innate, fixed property of human beings that is independent of biological sex, that a person might be ‘a man trapped in a woman’s body’ or ‘a woman trapped in a man’s body’ — is not supported by scientific evidence.”
— “Studies comparing the brain structures of transgender and non-transgender individuals … do not provide any evidence for a neurobiological basis for cross-gender identification.”
— “Sex-reassigned individuals are about five times more likely to attempt suicide and about 19 times more likely to die by suicide.”
In addition, the European Journal of Epidemiology also recently reported that people entering into a gay marriage were nearly three times as likely to commit suicide than their heterosexual counterparts.
It would be understandable if many Norfolk and area residents found these research results at odds with what they have been reading, hearing and watching in recent years. That’s because the liberal progressive movement has done a successful — yet misleading — job of trying to frame the issue to fit its perspective.

I will never believe Gender dysphoria isn't purely psychological or behavioral induced (and abusive). There's nothing 'biological' about it.
Well if the State is trying to destroy the family then I am having hard time seeing it. But then again this is a conspiracy theory site.

Do you understand that a psychologist has absolutely no business making a statement in a professional capacity about biology, don't you?
I mean, psychiatrists and psychologists practice soft science. They are simply not qualified to make such a judgement about biological matters, because most individuals in that field lack knowledge of biology, except as is specifically regards their work.

Whatever.
You think a 3-4-5 year old should be educated about something they're not mature enough to comprehend and have no tools to deal with?
Knock yourself out.
Translation: Willful ignorance.

Gender dysphoria develops in the womb, anyway.
Bullocks.
Or should I say, 'Do you have any proof of that?'

A progressive conservative, I like it. Perhaps Liberals will also like it.

Then you should love and accept the different views of conservatives. Conservative thought is not dying.. it is actually getting stronger ... and that is something progressive libs need to accept.

Careful, not accepting nonacceptance is like hating people that hate. Think about it. It's a closed negative loop. I think what's important, here especially, is patience, tolerance and acceptance. Don't get pulled into straw man arguments or red herrings, they will wear you out. This site is full of threads like these.
