Australia: One hostage dead in Terror Siege

Haven't seen this posted here yet.

A Somali-born Islamist has taken a prostitute hostage in an apartment complex in an upmarket suburb of Victoria called Brighton. He has shot dead a man and rang up a news station declaring his allegiance to "Islamic State and Al-Qaeda". He has since been shot dead after wounding 3 police officers.

There was a Media black out yesterday. All I heard of the siege was in 7pm news pretty much after the fact.

Why the media blackout? how does that add to to the safety of either the players involved or public?

Is this begining of a new level of state control? The people will never be told of events where police go into shomewhere guns blazing mutiple causalites and the rest of us will never know? Is that the next level state secrecy??

My thoughts exactly! Especially regarding the most recent London attack.
