I don't think it's accurate to call them spineless because they don't share your priorities.

Why do you think they continue to come to countries they despise? And don't bloody say for a better life because they bring that life with them
So go on why do they still keep on coming?

It's an invasion. It happens slowly over time. Lax immigration policies speed it up. Before you know it, voila! The #1 name of boys born in your country is Mohammed and you elect a muslim for mayor! Next....sharia law. And if you don't like it, too bad...you're in the minority. Complain too much and it's off with your head.

I am wondering that"maybe" when we(the U.S.) left Afghanistan after the Soviets left.We were supplying Bin Laden at the time, and maybe he felt abused and left for dead and it magnified his hatred for the West.Just me throwing stuff out there to if it will stick.

Who is they?

At this point, do you even know who committed these attacks?

If the ability to pull of 9/11 didn't wake people up, then this isn't going to.

Or, paradoxically, the ability to pull of 9/11 is dismissed as something they could never do, so it must be an inside job.

I was just going to say society might not ever wake up until they manage to smuggle in that suitcase nuke or dirty bomb, but if people are going to call 9/11 an inside job ... how much more would that have to be one in people's minds?

It may be that this will be dismissed right up until governments topple.

The notion that unlimited and unmitigated diversity is a "good" thing, is failing right now in London live on television for everyone to see.

I don't know who you think you're kidding.

They are spineless because they want the authorities to take action out of perceived fear, not what the individuals have actually done.

Don't call me names..I ain't spineless thanks
Get back to me when you've personally been affected by terrorism let's see you change yer tune then
Like I said we live in extreme times and we need extreme measures
the information that could be gleaned from these alleged suspects could be well worth the outcry from the liberal peace loving hippies
Oh and it was done throughout the time of the IRA bombings quite well too

Islam is just an ideology, and to counter it, all you need is a better idea.

But there are a lot of other better ideas around, so why isn't common sense working in this case ?

What we have here is a religion/cult that grabs kids aged 10, and even below than that in the streets of England and have them convert.
It's also convenient that the penalty for leaving Islam is death, apostates watch out. Islam is so respectul of women and human rights...

We have a thread around saying the Manchester mosques are refusing to bury the Manchester bomber. That is complete BS, pure posturing. They always end up beeing buried like any other muslim, according to muslim rites, albeit anonymously.

While peaceful Christians have to be cremated because you can't infinitely extend cemetary grounds.

If there is really a difference between moderate and radical muslims, we should at least cremate the terrorists.

This could resolve in two options.

Option one, the terrorist won't get to heaven with his 72 virgins.
Option two, imams will issue a fatwa saying that cremation doesnt penalise the martyr, thus proving that changing Islam is actually possible.

No, because they can't investigate that many people. They do like I said a few posts up. Compile, cross reference, narrow. Will it catch everyone? No. Neither will trying to find enough resources to investigate 50K people who downloaded a document.

So how do you reconcile your post above, with this post you made earlier:

I have to agree with you there. I think we just need to do a better job of surveilling people who show indications of radicalization

Which was my original point. Would you consider downloading a terror magazine an indication of radicalisation?

CNN was still calling it a "van attack" for a while after the UK official called it an act of terror. The agenda is all important, # accuracy.

By altering the threshold of how much evidence have to gather before we can act. But as I said, that can be very very tricky. But obviously the current rules we have in place are too lax.

I said nothing about diversity.

I'm talking about individual rights and due process.

How dare I?

Interesting.

What would motivate someone to use fake bombs during an actual attack?
