Looks like Uber will have lost 5 billion over the last 2 years. How do the companies like Uber exist with a handful of people reaping huge salaries. Must be nice. Some people have money to waste it seems.

Another benefit of being white in America, brutally kill another human being and still be brought in alive, even when you decide to challenge the cops by not lowering weapons.

Don't people get tired of this double standard that cops have for criminals, be any other color than white and be killed, regardless if you are unarmed or what crime you committed.

weapons are not going to save you from everything though

i dont think people should not be armed. im not the most comfortable with it per say but i understand it.

i think people need to assume everyone is #ing crazy and could kill you for no reason until proven otherwise.
its wild that this day in age when people know there are so many whack jobs out there that things like uber flourish.

i would never dream of taking an uber and i am not saying that because this instance. just the whole having a stranger come to my house or drop me off to my house in their personal vehicle...it creep me out and i am surprised so many people do it.

ive only taken a taxi twice in my entire life and i hated that too.
im lucky to live in a city where public transportation is not a well used means of transportation.

around here there are taxis but its not like the big cities.
in the bigger cities there is what like yellow cab. the vehicles probably go through some sort of regular maintenance schedule. it looks like it anyway. theyre all crown vics. all whatever. a fleet. professional like.

around here there are 2 companies. one of them is called safe and reliable. i dont know the other.
their fleet is a mix match of whatever. one day i will see a mini van with the logo. next time its a friggin escort.
all rusted up. loud exhaust. temp tire.
its crazy and i would never take a ride in them.

i think around here people take a taxi if their car is in the shop and they need to go to the store and dont have a ride or they get off work late and that is the only option.

what i mean is places like new york or whatever people do it every day. everywhere they go they take a taxi. its a normal thing.
i could never in a million years get used to that.

same with taking the subway or the L

if were to ever consider moving there and thats how i would have to get around i would not move there

Silly question - but did she buy the machete and knife in Walmart? Or did she have them with her beforehand? If the former, what is it allowed? If the later did the staff do nothing?

I lve in the UK (and, as it happens, own a machete which I use for work, but thats besides the point - they are not readily obtainable in this country legally and certainly not legal to carry in public - anyone doing so would very quickly be reported to the poiice and, I guess, encounter armed response)

A MYSTERY ILLNESS prevented shoplifter/murderer Elza Wasni from showing up for her court appearance today...

""A teenage girl accused of fatally attacking an Uber driver with a machete has been hospitalized and missed a scheduled court appearance Wednesday.

Neither prosecutors nor Eliza Wasni's public defender elaborated on her medical condition or where she has been admitted for treatment.

Another hearing in Cook County court was scheduled for Wasni for next week, at which point she is expected to enter a plea in the slaying of Grant Nelson, 34, of Wilmette.

Authorities allege that Wasni, 16,stabbed and hacked Nelson to death with a stolen knife and machete on May 30 in Lincolnwood, moments after he picked her up for an Uber ride in Skokie.

Wasni, of Chicago, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder. Prior to being hospitalized, she was being held in a juvenile detention facility while awaiting trial.

Nelson's family has filed suit against Walmart. Authorities said Wasni stole the knife and machete from a Walmart in Skokie about 3 a.m. May 30, just before requesting the Uber pickup and then getting into Nelson's car.""

It's crazy and sad that Chicago/Cook County has SO MANY VIOLENT CRIMES that this murderer's first day in court was a full 36 days after she killed the Uber driver.

White people usually have family or friends with money, so that if the cop kills them, he can expect retaliation in the courts, by angry relatives who have the means to hire the best lawyers, and see that the cop gets justice.

The non-whites don't usually have the money contacts that will pop in and sue for justice, instead they tend to take to the streets and make a lot of ineffective verbal noise, and sometimes riots, in which case all the other cops jump in and protect the killer cop, and the whole system favors the killer instead.

So, it's really all about money.

Or rather, the "perception" of who might have money.

Answer how no one spotted the machete.

Because people are actually quite bad at noticing things, which is why it's not uncommon for eye witnesses to give very different stories.

I am not sure why these Uber drivers just don't cut up a piece of plexiglas (or find a company that makes them) and install it between the front and back seat. That's what I would do for added safety...because it can be a crazy and violent world out there and putting yourself out there increases the odds of interacting with that one crazy person.
