Gordi is a little old for that decal. He should try the one that says

"If this van's a rockin, I'm just getting my socks on!"

Yes I am a party pooper, but perhaps we can look at it a way to extend the festivities of the week-end.

You guys get two days, I add two days and lo and behold the week-end consist of four days to party!!!
Then we only have three days of trivia.
We could call it Shed Time?
We can make our own time line.

Happy days every one.
I am going to enjoy mine. At the time of the eclipse, which is only 80% here, I will spend my time at the lake with the puppies, and watch the reflection in the water. I will swim in it. How is that

In 1999 I experienced a total eclipse. It is breathtaking especially at sea.
Good fortune had us off the shore of Lands End in the UK on the day of the eclipse. We had planned for a feast of celebration and I had been "broiling" over the stoves all morning.
Wine, ale and other spirits were ready for a proper toast.
Settling off the coast, amidst hundreds of other vessels, I remained below the bridge after serving the banquet.
Perhaps you don't know but the ocean is a place devoid of sound. So sound carries far. Waves will though diffuse it.
This was a clear day, with out a breeze.
There were no sounds every one held there breath.
As I stood on the deck, listening to the radio in the back ground, reporting the progression of the eclipse, the light faded, the birds began to rest on the water, the stars came out and all creation was silent.
So still, on the velvet sea, reverent as the heavens became dark as a moonlit night.
The birds just rested.
A grand cheer arose over the water as the sun returned.
This is a poor account of the beauty of it.

That is one spectacular vehicle Gordi! You know you have to take me to a castle first right?

Yeah, as long as you don't mind me jumping on the cushions when we're there...

hehe - I'm thinking of fitting the ladder & spare wheel mount from the rear of my old van. It has a version of the MOTORHEAD logo, but instead of saying "Motorhead - The Ace Of Spades" it says: "Motorhome - The Ace Of Stays!"

Good Morning Shedhooligans!!!

My parents sold the homestead and went RV travelling for the last nearly 30 years of their lives. They loved it! Anyway, they ad a little sign that said "if this camper's a rockin', its just the wind". LOL

Super stoked for totality today! And, WIS's description was beautiful. We've been tossing around ideas of where to be because everyone will be in different spots so, we are trying to coordinate being together. *fingers crossed*

Timely, I'll try to get some pics, I've researched how to do it well but as some of you know...I notoriously take crap pictures although I'll try.

Already planning April 8 2024. If we stay home, we'll only be in 90 % or so. Travel may be required. Here's a link for anyone interested in the next eclipse over North America.

www.timeanddate.com...

Have a beautiful day all!
(((hugs)))
P.S. It should begin here at about 12 PM (CST) and totality at 1:30 PM. We should have about 2 1/2 minutes. Forecast high of 88F/31C and 0 % chance of rain.

I don't know which I would find scarier to be honest. The Ace of Spades could denote that you are packing gravediggers equipment and The Ace of Stays could indicate that you are a master kidnapper....

I would not approach your van!

A total eclipse is a strange thing indeed. You know roughly what will happen, where it will happen, when it will happen and why it happens.

Then it happens. As totality approaches, the tension rises. You watch the last few minutes as the moon eclipses the sun and see the dark shadow on the earth approaching fast in the distance. The temperature starts to drop, the wind changes, the sounds of nature fade quickly. Then totality hits and nothing has prepared you for the reality of this moment. The effect of what you see is quite simply mind-bending. It's almost a religious experience. (I am not religious!) The beauty, the majesty, the mind-boggling celestial interactions of huge bodies and the maths it all entails. Baily's beads. Oh my...A beautiful display or red/purple/pink, the ring of fire/gold. The realisation that we are ants on a very small and vulnerable dot in a very large space is one I will never forget.

I saw mine in Zimbabwe back in 2000/2001 (it's been too long!) and have urged many ATS'ers who are almost in the totality to get their ass to the 100% zone if they could. The difference between 95% and 100% is worth the effort.

Watch safely though, blindness can be a bummer!
