A course of the drug currently costs $27USD.

It's free in poorer countries, supplied by WHO and is owned by Bayer.

Then all that needs to happen if it's really effective is for it to be prescribed for autism as a secondary or additional indication. If it has already proven to be safe and effective, then all the expensive work has been done and all the exclusive rights are worn out already.

It's like indicating a seizure medication for migraine. Doesn't change the cost of the drug.

It has plenty of side effects. Blindness, loss of vision, among others. Numbness, tingling.
It doesn't sound too great from
what I saw at a glance. I think they're barking up the wrong tree with germanin/suramin for sorting out autism. Why not experiment with terpenes and diterpenes? These cleanse toxic systems and heal rather than kill a person who is compromised. Disorder is disorder. When does anything good come from it, as in good health?

This particular 'solvent' seems a bit on the heavy duty side. They tried experimenting on weakened specimens with suramin and it killed some of them, so experimentation ceased.

Asperger's is a type of Autism. When people think of Autism, they think of severe cases, where the person is completely non functioning, but it can be anywhere from very light to debilitating. My son started off not being able to concentrate, sit still, non social, etc, but over the years, learned his own coping mechanisms, along with help from teachers and specialists at school. He is now basically a normal 19 year old. He doesn't really like crowds of people, but functions just fine in them.

I am a father of a 17 year old son with ASD that has virtually no verbal skills. I have flagged this to read and investigate later this evening. I can only pray that this is something real.

Also to note not all ASD people have Aspergers. I would assume Aspergers is more uncommon that most think.

Thank you for bringing this to light.

I don't believe there's ever been any solid, peer reviewed evidence that vaccines cause autism. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No, I wont correct you, I will let you get on with doing your own research but in the mean time feel free to get yourself and your kids vaccinated.

cheers

That's not how it works. You stated something and won't produce the facts.

Autism Study was Fake

One fake study got everyone all worked up.

I listened to Vinny Eastwood on a recorded broadcast one day and he was talking to a bloke who had studied and written a book about the Zika virus, remember that?

Any way the conversation veered off a bit on to autism. The guest cited stats that said that in the 1960's/70s the autism rate in the US was about 1 in every 150,000 births and today the rate is about 1 in every 500. The guest went on to say that before Vaccines were introduced to Vietnam the autism rate was zero, today its about 1in 500. Similarly the stats cited for Cambodia, the rate was zero and today its about 1 in 30.

Lets say there was a bit of exaggeration there to keep the conservation interesting, those figures don't have to be anywhere near that accurate to still be very worrying and it seem the correlation between autism and vaccines is worrying.

Please note, if you feel there is no integrity in these claims at all please don't hesitate to get yourself and your family vaccinated.

This is promising - my nephew has acute autism and I flicked your link to my sister to take a look, she is a member of the Autism Association of WA (Western Australia).

Cheers.

Meant to add, one bloke whose blog I read, said when doing the grocery shopping, look at all the kids (toddlers of the age group that sit in shopping trollys) and see if they look spaced out. This bloke said its these kids who are likely to have been vaccinated. They may not have autism but the unnatural behaviour is likely caused by something else in the vaccine.

On an unrealted matter, if you know people that are pregnet, suggest to them that they try to get ownership of the baby's DNA otherwise the hospital or the government via the birth certificate are likely claim ownership of it.

cheers

I don't really like to talk about it that much but my son was recently diagnosed as possibly childhood apraxia of speech with 4 signs of autism..... So when I see studies like this, and medicine like this..... It just makes my heart swell more than ever before. I've always wanted the best for all kids in the world regardless of what cards they were dealt- but throwing your own child into the mix really really brings things home for you.

I really hope the studies on this drug continue to fare well for the kids.

I believe that autism is the next stage of human evolution.

If you look at history most of the stand out genius were autistic (or displayed traits of). Most people with Aspergers (the previous term for high functioning autists) have high IQs and can perceive and make connections about details that non-autists miss. Most austists have at least one supercharged sense.

Take Savants for example; incredibly gifted. The man who the Rain Man character was based on could tell you what day of the week 17/8/236BC was but he could not dress himself. A documentary experiment depicted an artist who was taken to the top of a NY skyscraper for 15mins and 3 months later drew a perfect photoreal image of what he saw that day including a woman staring out a window etc. Autists can truly think outside the box because in a sense they weren't born with a box to begin with. Autists can often rub people up the wrong way because they can be too honest and use logic when making statements no matter how politically incorrect it is.

Scientists have found that an autists brain is structurally different and processes more info at once. In the case of severe autism where a child will remain mute and make repetitive motions - they are so overloaded and their brains can't filter out things like background noise, and visual stimuli so the child 'shuts' down as a way of coping with the overwhelming stimuli.

Whilist I think it's a great thing for a mute child to be given one dose of a medication and suddenly start interacting with the world - I worry that it will be over prescribed to high functioning autists. Imagine the inventions, the art and the free thinking that we would lose.

Thank you. Just tell them to look up the difference in brain activity scans of autistic vs average. Think in terms of Computer Motherboards.

As one who is Autistic, I say to the rest of you thus:

They can keep their "cure".
I do have a filter but # your feelings I cut straight with you.

Oh yeah, the failures to communicate are solely your fault. Your social limitism has failed to allow you to communicate properly with something of much higher cognitive response and thus it is not US that needs to learn, but your kind as well.

I learned .. Because once I wanted lots of friends. Now I'm surrounded by petty idiots.
As the British say, " Cheers".

This is true science! I am so happy for the poor souls that did not deserve this... I was checking some videos yesterday and came across a documentary about autistic children on Nat Geo while zapping and now seeing this news is feels like a warm spring wind with flower scents. I hope this will improve and not blocked by the stupid money eager people.

Aspergers is Autism, researchers realised that it's the same neurological disorder on a spectrum and not a seperate condition
